Ultrarunning Recovery | Formulating a Recovery Plan to Improve Running Preformance

If you're a runner, chances are you like to run a whole lot but don't think much about how you use your time outside of running. I used to run two-a-days, sleep about 5 hours a night and never take rest days. Of course, that led to injury and burn out.

As I've increased my mileage with the ultra distance, I've also had to increase time spent recovering. If you're not intentional about your off days, they turn into "on days" pretty quickly... at least they do for me. Thus, the birth of the "Recovery Plan"

This is a tool I use to be intentional with recovery throughout the week. We've only got one body so we ought to take care of it. This video will explain how to use the Recovery Plan, present examples and hopefully encourage you to be more deliberate about resting, off days and recovery runs!

Feel free to print the infographic and use it how you like. Mine is at the front of my running log, as a daily reminder that in order to be the best runner I can be, I've first got to be the best recoverer.

Great video! I am stuck in the rest=yoga rut. It's great, but I need to diversify!

This was awesome!! When you swim on your recovery days, how far/what's your routine? Do you swim laps? Also I would LOVE if you made a video on getting motivated to run and running well in the winter/in snow etc. :-)
