Mei's confidence = 💯 Watch her wear what she wants, say what she wants, and do a spontaneous cartwheel in #TurningRed. Stream it on Disney+ starting March 11.

Disney and Pixar’s “Turning Red” introduces Mei Lee (voice of Rosalie Chiang), a confident, dorky 13-year-old torn between staying her mother’s dutiful daughter and the chaos of adolescence. Her protective, if not slightly overbearing mother, Ming (voice of Sandra Oh), is never far from her daughter—an unfortunate reality for the teenager. And as if changes to her interests, relationships and body weren’t enough, whenever she gets too excited (which is practically ALWAYS), she “poofs” into a giant red panda! Directed by Academy Award® winner Domee Shi (Pixar short “Bao”) and produced by Lindsey Collins, Turning Red releases on March 11, 2022.

I love how quirky she is but she’s so confident in who she is without coming across as having an ego. I already love her character

I used to live just outside Toronto (Mississauga), and I gotta say the accuracy on display here is amazing. Feels so well researched and just, like the city actually is. I also love that a Canadian set movie has an asian main character, they're a massive, beautiful demographic of people here that's horribly underrepresented in fiction.

I am strangely impressed with the fact that her math homework looks like something kids would actually have and not some random math gibberish. It's even better that you can clearly read the problems and solve them if you so desire

So accurate. That's what goes through a 13-year-old's mind sometimes, that they're officially adults and don't want to be treated and controlled like a little kid lol

You know this is authentic Canadian character when she pronounces it as "Torono" instead of "Toronto." Like a true Canadian, she dropped the "T".

This movie takes place in 2002 where Mei is 13.
She was born in 1989.
Today in 2022, she’d be 33 years old.

2002 (Year) - 13 (Her Age) = 1989 (Birth Year).
Mei was born in 1989.

2002 was 20 Years ago as of 2022.
13 (Her Age) + 20 (Years Passed Since 2002) = 33 (Current Age).

I'm so excited for this movie! Mei seems like such a fun character, I really don't understand why people are hating on it. :(

I hope Lightyear goes into theaters still. That movie definitely deserves to be released into theaters. Pixar has not sent a movie to theaters since 2020’s Onward and they really need to return their movies to theaters please! I think they’ll make more money if it’s theater exclusive!

The details in this are incredible! 0:32 looks just like the math tests I had in Canada! I love all of the little Canadian details in this film like the Tim Hortons donut box in the breakfast scene!
