It is a extraordinary speaking marking criteria also it is a very effective and helpful for getting a higher band score in the IELTS exam.

He should have got an 8.0. These were difficult questions and his answers demonstrated a lot of wisdom and maturity. Irrespective of the mistakes and lack of emotion, he's an intelligent and thoughtful student, that should have been rewarded.

Although the speech was fluent and clear to understand, the grammar and vocabulary was at the upper-intermediate level, not advanced, the guy deserves 6 bands, not 7. I couldn't find any idioms, phrasal verbs, complex collocations as well as modals, passive voice, perfect tenses, conditionals, gerund, participles, etc. The guy as well lacked linking phrases and cohesive devices. The way he pronounced some words in the beginning, e.g. mountain, was incorrect. Therefore, it leads me to a conclusion that his speaking reached only B2 level only because of his confidence and fluency.

If you notice, the examiner keeps his arms down and try to sit with a constant body posture, it's because he wants to reduce as much non-verbal communication signals as possible.

I have speaking however, the examiner grilled me with questions and kept interrupting as I was giving answers. I have no idea what it means and how the scores would turn out. Hence, checking here if I am gonna get 7 or less? 😐😂

As per my experience, considering that I've got 7 twice, I can say that with such performance you can hardly get 6.5 as a maximum.

Not to belittle his speaking performance but I did not see anything impressive in the conversation.
