Less is more ! The "academic" part is not about how many complicated/uncommon phrases or words you know, it's about how much you can naturally blend in and effortlessly deliver your messages in the English native culture.
This is the art of simplifying ! Say whatever you want in the comment section but this guy absolutely nailed it ! Band 9 well deserved !

It's really the language of speaking in native English speaking countries. He didn't use many idioms or complex phrases or words like other English learners who attend Ielts test. I like the way he speaks. It's very natural.

I just figured out what my problem would be if i would take this exam. Lack of interest. If the guy would ask me about videogames, movies i would confidently talk about them for an hour. But describing an hotel i know ? Bro, i haven't leave the house for 20 days. I'm an introvert.

But anyways, probs to this dude. He didn't use fancy words or complicated sentences. He's just really good at expressing himself and delivering his thoughts.
