When I was little I loved dinosaurs and my best friend (boy) secretly liked barbie dolls.

I let other kids call me bossy by pretending to 'force him to play barbies' with me so he wouldn't get bullied. In return he'd bring his favourite dinosaur collection and we pretended Barbie and Ken owned a dinosaur farm.

I babysat a 8 year old boy and a 7 year old girl, and the girl wanted to paint her nails, so we got out pink nail polish and did each other's nails. The boy stopped playing mine craft and came over to the table and asked if I could paint his nails too. Obviously, I said yes. So we all played computer games with pink nail polish.

I remember when I was, maybe 10, and there was this one guy who loved wearing a very very light pink tshirt to school, all the other boys teased him. But he kept wearing it with pride (after a while it became kind of cool). Kudos to him.

This happened in fourth grade. Girls got pink, boys got green. My favorite color at that time was green and I asked for green and my teacher said it was a boy color. I was so pissed.

can we also destroy the idea that an aggressive boy is being rude because he "likes" the girl he is harassing?
i remember complaining about boys bothering me and stealing my stuff and the only response i would get was "oh they must like you!!"
like?? no??

I was volunteering at a festival by painting kids' faces and a little girl came up to me, asking for a snake. Her mom told her she was only allowed to get a pretty flower, butterfly, something sparkly, etc. The girl looked a little sad about this, so I painted an awesome snake on her face when her mom left, and the girl was really happy. :)

I'm English, and I remember how in Primary school if they ever wanted some students to help out by lifting something up, then they'd always come in and say 'we need four strong boys to help us'

I deal with my family's gender roles all the damn time. My aunts always buy me cutesy, fashion dresses, and I feel terrible for not wearing them but I've told them again and again that I'm not into that type of clothing. And my mom always tells me "you have to have a BOY with you when walking home" or "make the BOYS do the heavy work" or "why do you act so boyish? Try being more lady-like". My parents really want me to be their princess and I'm kind of tired of it.

This reminds me of how when I was little I wanted my mom to buy me pokemon cards and she said: "Why do you want this? It's for boys and it looks boring. You don't need it, let's buy something more appropriate for you." And so the cashier told my mom to let her buy it for me and that she even had them herself when she was little. My mom got embarrassed and ended up buying me pokemon cards. :)

I remember when I was 5 or so I would get so pissed when I saw signs above the toys section "Boy's" and "Girls" Also I got pissed when the boy's clothes section was all blue/green/brown, and the girl's were all pink/purple/red

Last year my P.E. Teacher was sexist. One of my female friends was having a pull up competition with some boys and they each did 10 but then fell off. My P.E. Teacher came up to my friend and said "Alice, your a girl, you can't do this kind of stuff. I don't think you could even win" this only made her try harder as she said "Oh really. Try me" and jumped to the highest bar and did 20 pull ups. Guess that's what happens when you mess with a gymnast

I don't think we need gender roles much if at all. Why can't people just wear and like what they want? I wouldn't mind if a guy liked pink. Fun Fact: Pink used to actually be a guy's color.

Everyone in my class told me "Ohmigosh, She's falling for him." just because I like to make friends with guys.

I have a brother (I am a girl) so obviously there's gonna be a mix of ''guy'' things and ''girl'' things going on. When we were younger, we would always play with cars and dolls together, cars one day, dolls the next. We'd combine both to make some crazy game and I never thought of cars ( and whatever else ) as something for boys only. I personally found them just as fun as dolls and 'dress-up'. My parents wouldn't make everything 'pink' for me ( especially since my fave colour is blue ) and they wouldn't make everything 'blue' for my brother. If I wanted a blue dress, I'd have it. If my brother wanted some purple shirt, he'd have it.

There are small things that happen that irritate me at my school, for example one day after an assembly the teacher said, boys please grab a chair I saw some of them struggling to carry one while I can carry 4 at a time, I was reaching for one and the teacher said, Mike (not actual name) can take that.

I've never been a "girly girl" or a "tomboy".. I've never had a label. just been myself my whole life! I don't care if I wear black, I don't care what I wear as long as I'm an individual person and not following the herd.
