In this devlog, I take you on my journey of creating my dream game - an open world, first person shooter action game with a futuristic storyline. As a game developer who has created smaller games and demo projects in the past, I am now ready to take on a big project and make my dream game a reality. I start by brainstorming and structuring my ideas inside a Game Design Document, which I also released for free to the public.

In the video, I show you the process of creating the basic setup, choosing enemy characters, designing weapons, and setting up levels in Unreal Engine 5. I also explain the importance of testing and bug fixing regularly to avoid any major issues towards the end of the development process.

I showcase the process of rewriting the code of the basic weapon to make it more accurate, the creation of a secondary function to add cool abilities, and the decision to forego realistic features like reloading to focus on non-stop action.

Feel free to share your comments, ideas and honest feedback. If you are a fan of open world FPS games and want to know how my project turns out, make sure to subscribe to see the next devlog.

I think no one has ever used the words "easier to model" and "human" like this before

I started my dream game or portfolio game a year ago. It was all nice learning UE5 but then I realized i had to make my own asset. So I started learning blender for a few months. lol there are so many things to learn not just UE5. Goodluck on the path.

I really like the idea of your project and the way you present it! I personally would prefer if the player has to reload and manage ammo since it would make the game feel a little bit more technical which would suit the scifi environment imo. But its a matter of preference

Could still use line traces for AI but have their aim randomly offset, or if the projectiles not visible have logic when the player gets hit where it rolls if it was an actual hit or suppresses you, alternately you can line trace very shot distances every tick to simulate a projectile and bullet drop etc. If you do want to go "open world" you are going to really want to either use Houdini or the Procedural Content Generation (PGC) tools in UE5.2 along with using the Landmass tools and new Landscape Material layer system making sure to use RVT etc.

Very good! I am also starting to work on my first ambitious project. Mine is a top down autoduel type game with some light rpg elements and customisation. Still in the design phase at the moment, but aiming to have a working prototype in a few months.

I am absolutely blown away by this video! Your game design skills are truly amazing, and I found myself feeling so inspired by your work. After watching this, I decided to create my own game, and thanks to your inspiration, I've been able to make a lot of money from it. I even made a video about it on my YouTube channel. Thank you for being such a wonderful influence on my life!
