This is Disc Golf Plastics EXPLAINED!

Innova's "Driver" Pro is a excellent value and more recent runs are almost indistinguishable from Star plastic as for looks and feel and very close to the same durability.
The general public doesn't realize there's multiple types of pro plastic Innova uses, some know of R-Pro, aka rubber pro, but they don't realize the normal Pro comes in different general plastic mixes.
KC pro is a hard tacky plastic that isn't very abrasion-resistant and can chunk/ gouge fairly easy in some cases. Still more durable than DX.
Then there's the base putter Pro like the old Rhyno's were made of 12 years ago, very similar to today's JK Pro nearly identical.

And my favorite driver Pro which is not marked on the stamps at all, it's usually reserved for 6 speed and above, however the V cobras a speed 5 mid-range has been run in the driver pro-mix.

Driver Pro looks and feels just like star, smooth shiny yet tacky, the old driver Pro from about 10 years ago not so much, it was just a stiffer normal Pro material somewhat similar to KC Pro.

It's kind of confusing, normal putter Pro is dam near JK pro,

Old Driver Pro back maybe 12 years ago, very much like KC Pro, stiff and tacky someone susceptible to abrasion/ gouging.

New driver pro mostly for 6 speed and above shiny smooth and tacky more abrasion and gouge resistant then the older driver Pro from yesteryear.

Finally R- Pro rubbery and flexible, tacky doesn't gouge easy but does get slight dents and thin slices are possible also in some rare cases warping of the flight plate can happen on certain molds.

To make it even more confusing the only three that are labeled on the stamp are R-Pro, KC-Pro, and JK-Pro.

Don't even get me started on the unofficial different variants of DX plastic runs there has been over the years.

Waxy
Chalky
Velvety (velour like)
Very stiff and tacky
on and on.

Not all DX plastic is created equal, long ago there were some very nice mixes released to the public.✌

1) Your set is fantastic!
2) I use base plastics for my putt and approach discs but I chose the plastic to help create differentiation between discs. For example DX Aviar for putting and short approaches, XT Aviar3 for approach, Champion AviarX3 for approach. I have 10 Aviars in DX for consistency in practice, and I don't mind the beating in over time given my range of putting.
3) By the time I get to midranges and drivers, they're in nothing less than Star plastic, but sometimes I'll buy a certain disc in Champion if I want to ensure a great chance for stability over time. The most overstable discs are the ones I usually get in Champion. Caiman for mid, Banshee for driver.

Gstar is probably my favourite. So grippy and great in the snow.

Great video and love that you included Discraft as well. I love my Z and Latitude Opto plastics

What I've recommended for people with lower income is to get premium plastics for mid's and up, and base for putter. That is if they love the sport and go throw often enough. This can be a huge money saver even the initial cost might be higher. Lets say two fairways (stable and understable), mid and putter. Not hugely expensive but instead of buying new fairways after each round at wooded course it saves a lot of money. Worst wear I've seen was with new'ish player who could throw somewhat decently. At the beginning of the round D MD2 would actually fly like it should, but 3/4 of the way it was already in roller disc category. No chances for straight flight unless put extreme hyzer which was not really a shot for this player yet. He really was ecstatic for new disc he had acquired at the beginning and the round ended with bit annoyed feeling just cause the disc was done.

If you want to throw a roller, thumbers, or tomahawks; make sure you buy a premium plastic. They don't get chipped up as much from colliding with roots, rocks, concrete, branches, tree trunks, etc.

I also LOVE the Star plastic. And the look of the stamp is great too.

My objective in disc golf is to have fun and unstress from my work week. So typically I get discs I love the look of as well as flight ratings I know I’ll want. I don’t typically focus on the plastics unless they look attractive to my eye.

Great video! I like how you stated that you putt with a premium plastic! I also do but was considering switching to see if base plastic actually grips the chains better or not! But I’ll probably just stick with the premium!

I use base plastics for practice putters and that's about it! I really like premium plastic feel much better. My personal favorite is star, but I switch it up depending on the disc and what stability I want. Star is a little less stable than a champion type plastic for the same mold.

Premium no matter what. 90% of mine are champion. I do like the star invaders and aviars tho.

I switched maybe two months ago to a Prime Burst Warden to putt with, and love the mold but really am not into the lumps and bumps it's already gotten. I know they make it in a hybrid (A.J. Risley) and Lucid. I'm sure those would both be more durable... anyone like putting with them?

Champion has a little more longevity. THE QUESTION: is star plastic more stable (brand new off the shelf)? I have a max weight star side winder that seems like it is way too stable. But I can get the champion version to turn a lot more. I don't get it...

KC pro roc are the only mid ranges you need

Inexpensive does not mean better value.

Lmao im stupid and buy alot of disc based on stamp after ive looked at the stats. That being said i typically get a premium from my drivers and putters tend to get base plastics or what ever feels stickiest then i make sure i have one that is solid for when it rains and i dont feel like holding on to a sticky putter
