Western countries: "Son, you're eighteen its time to go."

Asian countries: "WHY DO YOU WANT TO BREAK OUR FAMILY APART???"

I got kicked out at 16 and was homeless sleeping in the streets for months and my parents reported me as a runaway.

“Leave at 23”

And live paycheck to paycheck with debt all your life. What’s next? Have kids with an 8% inflation rate? Lmao.

My parents : when are you moving out
Me: when I can actually afford a house Instead of having to use my money on taxes

Lots of adults children still live at home. In some cases it can be cheaper and better for the entire family.

Im 28 and still live with my parents people look down on me but I pay my parents 500 a month for one room and still save about 50% of my income after taxes. (I invest a lot of it obviously) while they often struggle to pay for their high living standarts I am well on my way to building a succesful companie in my free time. I can only advice people in their early teens and twenties to save up whatever they can to do with that money what they truely want. Its not a shame to live minimalistic.

I moved out when I was ready to, and my Nana and Tata loved me as a roommate. Paid rent, learnt about finances, learned to hold down a job, cook, all the necessary things for living on my own at my own pace.

I was encouraged to, and nudged a little bit, but never forced to. It helped to know that if I failed I could always go back, build myself up, and try again.

I now am starting a great career working for Microsoft with a lovely girl friend, and we are looking into buying our first house in a year or two!

Don't kick your kids out if they're not ready. Humans aren't birds. Society is more complicated than that.

I guess it helps that I dislike alcohol, smoking, and drugs... now if only I could kick the porn and gacha addiction I'd be set.

I’ll never understand parents that want their children to leave their house. Like u literally had them and are responsible for them until the day you die. It’s parents like these that would abandon their kids if they became homeless. Shit like this would never happen in any middle eastern persons house hold. Smh shows how much they care

It’s refreshing to see how many people still live with they’re parents, I thought I was a bum

Edit so everyone knows: I help pay bills around the house and pay for my own stuff

"You're 23, when are you leaving?"...
I feel like this age range for officially moving out of your parents home is so outdated it's crazy. Students typically have 50-60K in student debt on average along with the rising rent prices. Like why would I want to destroy my financial position even more. Now, close the door and lemme get back to my gaming.

Thats how u get ahead in life. Having supportive family creates a strong foundation to where you csn build you future on.

As someone who grew up in a collectivist society (Asian, of course), when I knew about westerners moving out when they're 18 (because they value individualism more) gave me a whole new perspective of how different cultures are...
