Been making the bracelets for quite some time. Recently heard the term monkey's fist, and how hard they were. Much appreciated tutorial! Well explained. They definitely take a little practice and patience. Love to tie them now. Very cool knot to show off to all of the amateurs! ;)

Once again, an example of a great tutorial. Some don't even explain what they are doing. Some waste a lot of time explaining. Weavers of Eternity gets it just right. btw very good idea to reference a 'placeholder' vid for threading buckles and joining cord. Some others put it in every upload and makes the vid too lengthy. 2 thumbs way up!

How did you attach it to the key ring even though there were 2 separate strands?

I'm making a Begleri using a 3/4in steel ball. how do I finish the monkey knot with only one string coming from it? like the Grey/blue one that you show off at the beginning of this video.

im finding that i have a couple of sides being pulled together. still feels loose, when i try to tighten it up just seem to get lost in the weave and back where i stared. very frustrating.

Thanks! Was having a hard time following card directions... couldn't visualize the steps with the mess I had in my hands. Got it right away with your video.

Made a toy for my cat with these techniques. Used Burlap kind of rope, was very difficult but worked!
Thank you for sharing the technique!

Big concern here! Monkeys fists with heavy objects are definitely considered a weapon and banned in some countries and us states. If you plan to carry a larger one in public, check your local laws!

I'm not sure if carrying a monkeys paw made with something light would count as a weapon as well in areas where they are banned, but if you can get away with it, check out those children's quarter machines! Sometimes the little toys come in round containers that are pretty lightweight! A foam ball from the craft section might also suffice. I was curious if i could use a cat toy. Added bell for fun!

Another project idea i had was to make a little monkey toy. That key chain looks really similar to what i envisioned when i first saw this knot done.

I'm also thinking of an eye for an octopus amiguri project i've done before. The lighter options would make adorable toy decorations!

I'm curious to play around with different types cords. Crochet thread might be a bit more complicated, but it could open all sorts of tiny design options (give your sailor barbie a historical accessory, crafty ladies! ) Trying this with metal wire and a round bead could be a neat jewelry embellishment. Lots of room for experimentation....

What a useful knot!

I've watched Navy Bosun's Mates turn these things out in five minutes using a lead weight and 3/8 in diameter cotton line without even looking at their fingers. They are standard for 60 foot heaving lines (used to throw a line from one ship to another). It's a knot that is over 400 years old. They are mentioned in the logbooks of Christopher Columbus.

I took a jujitsu class a few years ago and our sensei taught us how to make these as a weapon (they hurt) I totally forgot how to make one. Glad I found this!
