The Complete Jewish Study Bible is designed to celebrate and honor the Jewishness of the Bible as a whole. So many Christians struggle with the relationship between the Old and New Testaments because they don’t fully understand the purpose of the Law and Covenants of God and how they work. This bible is not only designed to address this misunderstanding, but also addressed some of the verses in the New Testament that are used to fuel anti Semitic thinking.

David H Stern has made his life work to be reconciling the Jewishness of Christianity and New Testament to the Hebrew Bible. This Bible is very unique in this effort. My favorite part is that the Old Testament is arranged in the order Jesus would have been familiar with. It was originally set up this way for the purpose of memorization allowing the story to repeat over and over, thus ending with 1st and 2nd Chronicles, a complete overview of the Old Testament.

The Old Testament is actually not a full translation but an update of the JPS Tanakh (paraphrase), but the New Testament is an actual translation with special emphasis on retaining the Jewish nature of the original text. Everything I have researched expresses tremendous confidence in the work of Mr. Stern and considers this bible to be a tremendous tool for Christians to learn the Jewish roots of the faith they possess. I feel this is critically important and a too long overlooked aspect of our faith.
