"Viva la vida" is better translated as a celebration of life rather than a carpe diem type message. You're saying something similar to "long live the king" but not quite. It's like saying "life is awesome" but with different words.

Just a small disclaimer, The literal translation of "viva la vida" is live life but "viva" in this context means "long live", celebrating or supporting something, so the translation is "Long live Life"
