You don't NEED an NPU. Apple just didn't code the software to use the GPU/CPU to do AI. They can. They just didn't. You don't NEED 8gb of ram. That just makes it faster and more capable. Apple CAN give Apple Intelligence to all older phones but we'd just have a degraded experience. I want that degraded experience.

It’s really lame that it won’t work for the 14 Pro. They should at least make some features available and provide a cloud-based solution.

Good explanation but a iPhone 15 which is now one year old is incompatible for less RAM. This feels wrong on Apple’s part if right commercially to force end users with 15 model to upgrade which again is wrong for me 🤷🏼‍♂️

I am sure they do a lot online with their AI on Apple Servers and they could bring online based Apple AI to all iPhones, they just need a reason to exclude last year's iPhone 15 and even the 14 Pros.

I have an iPhone 14 Pro and I'm this close to starting a boycott. There is no reason why Apple can't implement end-to-end encryption through the cloud so that your AI requests can't identify you, and there is also no reason that they can't use their own servers to process our requests on older iPhones.
