It’s great that Dr. Greger generously shares his own experiences with the public so we all can learn and benefit. I have noticed that Dr. Greger admits if any information he has imparted is later shown to be inaccurate when new information comes to hand. His genuine openness and humanness is why I follow and trust him.

As a fellow health and wellness creator, I appreciate Dr. Greger's candidness in sharing his blood test results. It's crucial for those of us promoting plant-based diets to emphasize the importance of nutrient adequacy. Research consistently shows that while plant-based diets can offer numerous health benefits, they can also lead to deficiencies in key nutrients like B12, vitamin D, and omega-3 fatty acids if not properly managed.

For instance, a study published in the *American Journal of Clinical Nutrition* found that vegans are at a higher risk for B12 deficiency, which can lead to serious health issues if left unaddressed. Supplementation, along with regular blood testing, can help ensure that we maintain optimal health.

Additionally, incorporating fortified foods and a variety of whole foods can help mitigate these risks. It's essential to educate our communities about the potential pitfalls of a plant-based diet while also celebrating its benefits. Thank you for shedding light on this important topic!

I’ve been eating plant-based for 10 years now, and I just got my most recent blood work results—everything is in the optimal range and I’ve never taken any supplements, I just continue to expand the variety of foods I eat so I get a range of nutrients everyday. Now I’m working on my nutrition certification 🎉

Dr Greger's not thinking (all or nothing thinking) that he can't post health info if he's dead. Doc go outside in the sun. Just think of it as future posting on health capacity.

I would have thought that most vegetarians/vegans would have known this.

Individuals are different, my wife and I test quite differently on an identical diet.

Breathe Dr.
And as always, plant based science london, u already know what I'm going to say- luv your voice. Dr. Greger should just sit down with u for 15 min a day and hear you talk. That'll give him all the sunshine/vit D that he needs. 😊😊

It's so important to remember that a whole food plant based diet and vegan diet are not the same thing. A vegan diet is undertaken out of concern for other animals and the health of the planet, a whole food plant based diet out of concern for our health.

I would've loved to see his numbers and how much they climbed with XYZ dosage for 3months, then 6 months.
Don't be afraid to get your D levels to 65+.
normal range is 30-100

Those of us who live in the Northeast sometimes don't get enough sunlight for enough Vitamin D. The days are short and cold. If we do go outside we are bundled up to stay warm.

I always have my Vitamin D checked. Results aren't always the best. Then again, the upper hemisphere plays a key role in Vitamin D deficiency. Thanks, Plant Based Science London, for keeping us humans, in check.

I live in Alaska. Right now we get 2 hrs of light a day. It rains all summer. If you go to villages where there are virtually no stores, a heck of a lot of people have Ricketts (bow legs) from Vitamin D deficiency. Vitamin D also boosts your immune system and mood.

D deficiency is so common across all dietary habits, this is a good reminder to supplement.

yes, Dr. G needs to get 20 mins of stress free sun, 10 minutes out, 10 minutes back.

Mine is always low. I think it’s harder than we think to absorb vitamin d from the sun. I think getting tested and if low supplementing is necessary! I take drops but it does constipate me, why I don’t take it all the time. But I’ve been taking the oil drops more and more as of lately. I do wonder too if letting mushrooms absorb vitamin d from the sun is really that effective. Best

Have seen you walking on your treadmill...walking outside might be a good plan.

I guarantee you that 10 or 15 minutes of sun on face and arms will not substantially change your Vitamin D levels. I did whole body exposure in Florida for 10 to 15 minutes a day in addition to normal exposure and it did change levels but not by much. Had to add supplement to get my levels into optimum range.
