Is the Insta360 X3 REALLY Waterproof?

The Insta360 X3 is the latest 360 Action Camera, but is it really waterproof?

The Insta360 X3 is said to be waterproof to 10m without a case, which means you should be able to shoot some awesome underwater shots.

I tested the X3 underwater for a whole day, shooting underwater using both 360 and single lens mode to see if the camera could really survive and whether the footage looks good.

Two facts are important to know:

1. Insta360 doesn’t guarantee that the camera is waterproof, neither with the extended warranty nor with insta care.

2. 10 meters sounds a lot but we are talking about pressure not depth. If you move the camera underwater too quickly or if the water is flowing, it will take much less than 10 meters. For instance, a case for snorkeling should stand the pressure of 30-40 meters, although your maximum depth may only be about 2 meters.

Very timely video. None of the launch day videos I watched actually tested the X3 under water though one kinda dipped it in a puddle. Made me wonder if any of them actually trust it.

Is there a case for action sports or can the dive case be used for dry land sports without impacting the sound quality and the video quality?

so many cameras I tried, still leak one day, sooner or later. One R, X1, X2... Only a matter of time. If you plan to use them for surfing etc. then you need to think of old school - completely sealed cases... like old GoPros... I do not know if there are such 3d cameras these days?

Idk what happened to mine but I filmed myself in a pool with the Lens Guards on and the 360 didnt distort

How to activate stabilization ? Or is it automatic ?

It's not only not closing the door properly that causes the was intrusion, the battery separates itself along where it seals causing water to get in even if the tabs are locked, happens overtime usually in salt water if not rinsed properly most likely

Do you know whether X3 with lens cover/protector fits in the X3 dive case? I know X2 with lens cover/protector didn’t fit with X2 dive case.

There is a good improvement on the image quality from the one x.
Look like its time for me to upgrade ;)
