Great review, but insta 360 is cheaping out by not supplying the rubber lens cover. That should come standard in the box.

I held off of 360 cameras till this X3 hooked me. I was waiting to see what/if gopro had something new coming but nada. Now that I have been playing with the X3 a few days I am really impressed with the capability. I always heard folks complain about working with 360 video and how irritating it was so I am glad to say I found working with the files easy whether using the insta360 apps or Final Cut Pro. I dragged the files into FCP and was able to intuitively work with the file without watching YT vids which is impressive for me considering how little I know about FCP. It's an impressive camera.

Just ordered mine. I think the biggest upgrade is probably software based & takes all the keyframing to a minimum, who really wants to spend 10-15 mins making sure you got the shot right. Can’t wait to hit Chamonix in December with my new gear!

never had an action camera or a 360 and these are seriously moving the mark forward i'm blown away by how much control you have when editing and paired with a wireless mic you can even add quality voice overs for years ive struggled with old video gear trying to synch up external audio.

Hey Rich great feedback, the X2 does a mighty fine job, X3 although not a tech spec porn, practically though the 1" sensor is not the be-all and end-all.

I recently switched from GoPro to Insta360 X3 and so far I love this camera, still learning it but I like the fact that it actually works when I need it to unlike the GoPro. The only thing I wish it had and maybe its coming is the ability to take night 360 photos and be able to adjust the settings to accommodate different effects like the GoPro does. Yes, it has starlapse but its not the same, you can't just take the photo you wish and adjust the settings. The GoPro Fusion has this capability but the MAX and the X3 does not. Hopeful that this will change in the future with Insta360 because I would really like to rid myself of anything GoPro at this point. By the way, as far as I can tell, you can't shoot night scapes in single lens mode either which all the GoPro Hero's can do and does quit well, when you can actually get them to stop freezing up or overheating that is.

Insta360 is doing a really good job of using apples business model. Releasing new products with just slightly upgraded features that HARDLY makes it worth an upgrade. From X2 to X3 isn't worth it at all. Until they get away from 5.7 30.... I won't be wasting any more money on micro upgrades. Great Review though!
