‘The fight for healthcare affects us all’: Nijmie Dzurinko

From September 13-21, 2021 movements across the United States are participating in a week of action organized by the Nonviolent Medicaid Army (NVMA) to raise the demand of healthcare for all. Despite healthcare being recognized as a fundamental human right by the United Nations, in the richest country on the planet, there are still millions who do not have access. The fact that the US continues to have the highest number of officially confirmed deaths from COVID-19 is indicative of this fact.

Peoples Dispatch spoke to Nijmie Dzurinko, an organizer with Nonviolent Medicaid Army and Put People First-Pennsylvania to learn more about the issue of healthcare in the US as well as what organizers are doing to fight for this right.
