As Jim Carrey said: "You can fail in life doing the things you hate so you might as well take a chance doing what you love". Very well done to you - it takes courage to follow your dreams despite what is happening around you. I wish you all the success!

I feel you 100%. I was born in 88, and growing up then without social media being what it is today, the "Starving Artist" comments were stronger than ever. Now that we have all of these platforms, it has really helped the creative community grow and share their creations for everyone to enjoy and see! I am glad you realized early what your true passions are. Always love seeing the behind the scenes.

Omg! The " starving artist" things was definitely the reason why I didn't pursue art. My art teacher even pulled me to the side one day to tell me the only real money in art was teaching and I was like if that's the case, no thank you! But now I'm slowly working on an art business 😊! I'm a biologist turned artist l😎

I'm the opposite - I started in art and now I'm transitioning to computer science. Lately, I feel that I see a lot of engineers switching to art, which is very nice. However for me, art is just not a livable income and I need to switch to a job that can help support my parents and myself. I thinks it's great that you're going back into the arts and pursuing something that makes you happy. Glad your boyfriend is also very supportive to your career switch as well! It's not easy to find others who can support you switching to a job in the arts. I've noticed that if you're not some top tier artist with a large amount of followings or a crazy job resume, a lot of people just view you in a negative light. Seeing you say that you're happy with your switch makes me happy. I'll be following your artistic journey! C:

I completely relate to your story. I've always loved Design but instead I graduated from Law school because it was expected of me. In 2020 when I graduated from Law school, I decided to enroll a design course and I've been working as a full time Product Designer ever since :) Now I'm considering starting my own creative Business and I found you Channel today, it made me so happy! Thanks for all the great content you share with us!

I understand you 100%, I am a mechanical engineer. I studied to make my parents happy, it has been a family career, my grandfather, my father, my cousins are mechanics. But I always wanted to be a filmmaker and write. Now I'm focused on what I want to do with my life, sometimes I'm frustrated because I don't work in what I like, but step by step I'm sure I'll find my way.

Civil Engineer here who discovered a passion for art 2 years ago and trying on making it work. I still have my full time job so I try to squeeze art whenever I can. Your story is very inspiring. Keep up the good work!

I was a software engineer for around 10 years. I quit and started re-learning art at the age of 31.
It's been a couple of years since then. Now, i freelance and make 2d and sometimes, 3d art assets for game companies. Also have my own store at the side.
Life is an uphill battle, still. But it's a battle i enjoy partaking in. You can do this!

I connect to your story so much. I wish society just let us be our true selves instead of making us feel like we have to get a 'good paying' job to be successful. I'm so glad you took the leap to start your own art business. I'm in the process of doing the same. I quit my job at the end of last year and I'm so thankful my husband is able to support us both at the moment. Thank you for sharing your story and tips because it really makes me think I have a chance at making an art business too. ♥

I became a doctor, giving in to societal and familiar pressures. It was devastatingly depressing, and I've been lost and adrift for over a decade since leaving the profession. In school I used to have a knack for art, but my family was so against it that I...well, I'm totally without skills and don't know what to do now. But thanks for your story. It's encouraging.

Cried watching because of how relatable this is and what a difficult journey it is through typical college and careers when you are an artist at heart. Proud of you for being brave and chasing your dream

“I’m becoming exactly who I’m supposed to be” this. This is also the same feeling learning art gives to me! It’s just…right. :)

After listening to your story, my heart was filled with admiration and respect for your bravery in pursuing your passion for art despite the pressure to conform to a traditional STEM career. Your journey is a powerful reminder that we should never compromise our dreams to please others, and instead strive to create a life that is true to ourselves.

Despite the many many deaths of the pandemic it was a massive blessing in disguise for a lot of people too. Many new businesses were spawned from that awful time. Many new talents have surged from that reality check. So glad you're one of those success stories. I await to see how much further you develop.

I feel this story. I spent years trying to make an art career work. Finally I gave up and transitioned into IT. But I still have a need for art. Even if it's for a side job, I'm still struggling to find out how to make it work.

It's interesting that this popped up on my feed when it did. I've been seriously considering making the art side-job happen. I'm also focusing on healing childhood trauma at this point in my life.

Thanks for the message of strength and inspiration!
