I've also wasted days going back and forth with emails to some professional mastering studio engineer similarly like you did, at the end, I gave up as their master sounded worse than mine. Been learning mixing & mastering since and doing alright I have to say. Best decision ever

I’ve felt the same way working in studios and always found my “demos” had more vibe then the “professional mixes”. I felt I wasn’t allowed to release music myself because I didn’t have the engineering knowledge. Ears and talent are way more important than fancy gear. Always try and remind myself that as I work on my own ears. ✌️

I've had similar experiences with M&M engineers. I wish I'd asked for my money back now! It was about £90. He did do about 5 reviews but it was still crap. It was quite heartbreaking actually. I lost some confidence in engineers abilities. It is a gamble eh!?
