Today we're checking out to see if the brand new iPad Pro 2020 can be used as your only editing computer. We've done series like this before and checked out the iPad as a travel computer, but today we're going to hook it up to all of my iMac accessories and see how it fares.

So can it do it?

Lets find out!

Ok. So iPad OS 14 desperately needs a secondary display and extend mode when attached to one or multiple monitors.

I started my YouTube channel with my iPad Pro, i film everything with the ipad, use its mics, then edit the footage with lumafusion and make the thumbnails on the iPad. its not perfect, I want to get a camera, but until I can afford all the other gear, the iPad allows me to actually create things, and I love it.

Hey Dad. Great test! I tried doing this a couple years back with a iPad pro 10" and my GH5. I did it mainly for run and gun editing. I believe this solution is great for budget content creators who need one machine for at home and on the road. To me speed is everything. Learning to be as fast as I am on my big editing rig as on this mini setup took some time. So word to anyone considering this, please allow yourself a learning curve before using this for a paid assignment that needs efficiency for a deadline. I tested mine on a family trip to Disneyland and that's when I learned that I still had to learn how to be quick.

I only edit on my iPad: Lumafusion, Lightroom, Affinity Photo (even though I suck at it). 2018 model is a beast and if you can find a 128gb on sale, you'll have an amazing value on your hands.

Awesome video! I need to start using my LumaFusion on my new iPad Pro 2020! Question: where did you get the shortcuts for Luma fusion?

Dude you can turn the accessibility thing off, the new iOS for iPad supports the mouse you are using with out the need for the pointer thing turned on.

I must say. Your videos are really always very helpful. I've watched other "Editing in iPad Pro" videos, but none as simple and straightforward and hands on as you. Truly appreciate how simple and great your videos are. Now I really feel I can "do it" (edit with iPad Pro x Luma Fusion).

We use an iPad Pro and LumaFusion to edit all of our channel's videos. Been using the ipad for a couple years for it and love it! LumaFusion crushes the edit game. Rendering 4k in realtime! Great vid

I just bought LumaFusion to add with Affinity Photo, LucidChart, MS Office 365, and Jump Desktop for Remote Desktop Connections for my 2020 iPad Pro 11 inch, and its a godsend.. having the ability to do advanced computing tasks on iPad Pro including video editing is the most awesome thing ever!

Been doing this with my iPad Pro 2018 and yep I am sold too. Got myself hooked up with an external SSD, hub, Magic Mouse and monitor etc . Good to go.
I thoroughly agree that you can use any fairly up to date iPad and it will work great with the right software, and peripherals. The future is iPad OS and you have a the opportunity to spend less cash on equipment you do not need.
I have to recommend Procreate into the mix with Affinity Photo . If you like to use your phone to record extra B roll or use as a main camera, get some Filmic Pro in your life.
I look forward to being able to get the right aspect ratio on the monitor and better multitasking in future updates if that is on Apples agenda

I hate that the iPad doesn’t have16:9 support for external monitors. The 4:3 mirroring looks so bad.

This was so entertaining to watch and so encouraging to think of how the iPad is really turning into a computer! Thanks for the lockdown video break entertainment.

When Gary flips you off you know he's loving it 5:40! Jokes aside amazing how far we have become. I bought the 1st gen on launch day knowing that it was going to big but never could have envisaged the iPad of today being able to zip through 4K video production and being a mobile photo editing suite. When this Corona crisis passes can't wait to invest in the ecosystem.

Tip 2: You don't need to have AssitiveTouch open for using the cursor!!

it honestly is mind blowing to me how powerful our tablets have gotten, heck even the cell phones in just a few years. while i personally do not see myself not having an actual desktop for what i create and do mobile is absolutely going to change the way people use computers.

Love the setup but every time I try to do something longer then seven minutes on Luna fusion the project goes to crap. Larger clips can’t be found again. Using the previous gen iPad Pro. Promising, but not there yet to get rid of my iMac .

I love that you are not just one of those guys taking this on like a one day challenge but that you can see yourself using this on the daily. So I figured I’d share these tips with you.
1. You don’t need to have AssistiveTouch on anymore to be able to use the mouse support.
2. You can set up in Settings > General > Trackpad & Mouse, under MAGIC MOUSE set Secondary Click to right. Also in that menu you can toggle Natural Scrolling, and change the tracking speed.
