I use my iPads for creative work, paperless notes, email follow ups, but also entertainment such as Netflix. I totally agree with you, the way the multitasking is set up on iPad helps you to focus on one task at a time but gives you the advantage to move around with limits. Having the keyboard and the pencil is must.

For anyone thinking an iPad is a complete replacement for a laptop or PC, remember it is still on a mobile operating system which means some programs won't work on your tablet and some features of websites aren't supported for tablets etc. Also a tablet will not magically make your handwriting beautiful :(

I ditched my laptop years ago for the iPad. Currently use an 11” iPad Pro. Works great for me. At home & while traveling. I use it for everything from web surfing & email writing to video & photo editing as well as note taking & drawing with the apple pencil. It does everything i need.

I love how you mentioned the separation of use for each device. This is the same focus I got my iPad for. It's strictly business. I was doing business and personal from my phone, but was often distracted by personal.

I definitely agree with the iPad work flow idea. It’s just easier and more seamless for me to work on my iPad over a traditional laptop. And these new iPads can do so much! I, too, use different devices for different things. My iPad Pro is for work, business and school related things, and my iPad mini is for fun stuff. A perfect balance. Thank you for your video!

For the last four months I’ve made my iPad Pro my only computer. I was amazed at how easy that transition was. The primary app that I lost was my home edition MATLAB and Simulink. But I learned to work around that. I probably won’t live long enough to fully exploit all the iPad’s capability. Beyond YouTube, my primary iPad usage includes developing engineering illustrations and diagrams as well as taking notes and marking up technical articles. I’ve dumped MS Office in favor of using Apple’s creativity suite: Pages, Numbers, and Keynote. No issues so far.

I never thought about assigning roles to my devices (e.g., one for entertainment, one for work, etc.) I like it and I think I’ll have to try it

As a biochemist, The iPad had changed my life from Bachelor until now Ph.D. it is easy for write down a lab results, do lab journal, write down a patht way or chemical structure drowning as you mentioned. For me it is the whole experience such as watch a youtube during waiting for pcr results. Listen to music during cell culture or reading paper. The work that I still using my MacBook is for SPSS and citations program for paper writing.

I’ve actually used my iPad Air r to teach and I was blown away at how much more productive I was. My students were also able to see that and they preferred the iPad over the chrome books that my my school gives us. This video really helped me put things into perspective when using the iPad as a computer first ! I’ve used it to tutor also while using the Apple Pencil and it was very seamless and productive!

This made me feel a lot better because I’ve seen people say it’s nearly a necessity to have a laptop to go along with an IPad but I don’t have that kinda money and I’m really scraping everything together to get one device. As the iPad would be my only device I’m looking to see how to get it to work for a degree. I’m a botanist and I’m really hoping that if I can get by with just the IPad.

My 2021 iPad Pro is my baby. I use it for everything, watching Netflix, HBO Max, Disney Plus, to taking notes and videos for school, and writing my short stories (I’m a wannabe author.) I have an 2nd Gen Apple Pencil but no Magic Keyboard because that’s expensive as hell. There are great, cheap, Bluetooth keyboards. The iPad Pro is versatile and I don’t need a laptop. It does everything.

Thanks for the video!

"Why is My iPad My Computer?"

Because no one can afford a computer after purchasing an iPad.

I strategically purchased my iPad with keyboard and pencil for the sole purpose of using for work, planning and creating. I needed the portability but more importantly, I needed something that would support me while I learn new create tools and techniques without overwhelming myself with desktop software that I probably won’t use until I get into more advanced levels.

I went for a whole year without turning on my laptop. I use my iPhone for almost all my digital needs. Now I just go on laptop to keep it updated. The biggest annoyance with laptop is the updates keep it from functioning. Even after like a month of no use sometimes when I turn it on I have to wait for it to update before I can start using it.

I feel like my iPad is my main as well. First my laptop needs to be fixed lol it is loud and annoying . 2nd digital notes allows me better to focus, I don’t know what it is but writing down my notes digitally just works well for me. If I could do my chem homework on my iPad I would

I’m a high school and college student (dual enrollment) and my iPad (iPad Air 4) has made my life so much easier. First with saving paper and also being able to conveniently have all my work in one location.

I use iPad Pro for 99% of my work as entrepreneur running my own business, but I also use to play music and edit my drone videos, and for entertainment such as YouTube and Netflix. It is my most valued piece of tech with it being integral to most aspects of my life.

30 years using IT and I’m with you 100% on iPad first, creating music, graphics, videos, websites and now software development for Alexa skills and websites. Just pick up and put down when you want. 👍

I’ve switched to primarily iPad 12.9 Pro. With the amazing magic keyboard. You are correct the work flow is seamless for me as well. I can also remove the the iPad from keyboard and go out into the plant for audits, pictures of project areas, etc….I use the MacBook Pro much less now. I also use cloud services to share with my coworkers and store documents on the go. It’s so much better!
