Why is the reaction of the ester with NaOH considered a hydrolysis if no water is involved in the reaction? Also i love your videos i share them with my chem mates all the time :)

The carboxylic acid gives away H+ and alcohol gives OH- but I've seen other people on YouTube say the carboxylic acid gives OH- and alcohol gives H+!!!
Which one is the correct one ? Please tell me🙏🙏🙏

i think alcoholz only give hydrogen, . the carboxyl gives hydroxel forming water but the oxygen that has single bondate on each carbon is the alcohol's
