The dance form is Kathak which basically was for devotion to God. Girls used to dance this in a temple only for depicting a story or showing devotion but Mughal invaders did not only looted most of the temples and destroyed them but took these dancers to their courtyard and then started its new form and this is the time when a devotion full Kathaak changed to seductive kathak. Then further going the same dance form got transferred to Kotha's for Mujra and Bollywood promoted it through movies.

I want to tell you both something very important about this heera mandi webseries. After partition 1947 when Pakistan country was formed those kotha wali ladies (tawaifs) once most beautiful, popular ladies of Lahore 's heera mandi came to India during 1947 partition. Now they live in India some of them are still alive. They have told their life stories, when they once used to live in Lahore's heera mandi to the writer mohin beg who is the script writer of heera mandi webseries and very close friend of legendary director Sanjay Leela Bhansali . This webseries is made from 14 page of script of heera mandi series written by writer. Sanjay Leela Bhansali has created the sets, jwellery, costumes according to the script's demand of the series. Now in future whatever me and you all will see in the series is completely true facts of those ladies who themselves have told their stories from their mouth to the writer. I hope you will understand that this is historical based series not fictional based.
