In movies, big stars like Alia, Deepika, or Priyanka draw audiences to theaters, but in web series, it's about watch time views, not just big names. You will never see big revenue generating stars in series.

(3:58) Dude, that's the point, he doesn't need any "big names". His name and his talent is enough for people to watch his movies (and now series) and his movies are always remembered by his name, chahiye kitna bhi bada actor/actress involved ho uske project mei. Ex:- Devdas(2002), three biggest stars were a part of this film (Srk, Aish, Madhuri) but still when people talk about this film, even today, it is known Sanjay leela bhansali's film devdas and not Srk's film or Aishwarya's or Madhuri's film. Infact, the "star power" of certain actors doesn't benefit his flims, on the other hand, working in his film gave some of the stars their "star power"(Ex:- Ranveer and Deepika). And lastly, i wanna say that he is (or rather he has) a very good casting director, that can find hidden/unappreciated gems from bollywood. Because, I've always noticed that the main cast (in his movies) are anyway mind-blowing, no doubt BUT it's the supporting characters in his movies that always take the cake somehow. Examples :- (Jackie Shroff, Kirron kher, Vijay Crishna in Devdas) (Vinay Raaz, Indira Tiwari, Seema Pahwa, Jim Sarbh, Huma Qureshi in Gangubai Kathiawadi) (Supriya Pathak, Gulshan Devaiah, Richa Chadda, Barkha Senguputa, Sharad Kelkar in Ram-leela) (Tanvi Azmi, Milind Soman, Vaibhav Tatwawaadi in Bajirao Mastani) (Aayaam Mehta, Jim Sarbh, Aditi Rao Hydari in Padmavat) Also, Raza Murad is Bhansali's favorite as he's a part 4/5 movies i mentioned here.

This is a Netflix series……. Not a movie ! Big name actresses will never be able to give the time that a series demands ! He had to take good actresses, but who are not busy 24/7, like Alia and Deepika !

It's not a 2 or 3 hour movie on TV but a series/serial created by Sanjay Leela Bhansali for Netflix/TV.
It does not need big names like a Bollywood movie release. TV series have their own niche of established TV actors and Netflix/Amazon Prime have their own niche of actors who may be from TV, drama, OTT apps, theater or the film industry.
