Sanjay Leela Bhansali's "Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar," featuring Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sanjeeda Sheikh, Richa Chadha, and Sharmin Segal, is poised for an imminent release on an OTT platform. The announcement of the show generated significant excitement, particularly due to its impressive ensemble cast. "Heeramandi" was officially unveiled by the creators in 2021 amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. However, at that time, Bhansali and his project sparked a debate in Pakistan, with several celebrities expressing the view that such narratives should be handled by Pakistani filmmakers.

It was never Pakistani history, it was Indian culture because the Mughals ruled before the existence of Pakistan or even the idea of two separate states on the basis of religion, it does not lie in our hands to separate history and culture; ones which were ironically inseparable. I'm saying this as a Pakistani, if only actors referred to historical context or were even aware of it before they vented about their own failures on a large platform.

Why the actors are forgetting the fact that Lahore was once part of india. And the story is about that period when india and Pakistan were not seperated. Gosh this is so childish

Lahore was a part of India and Indian culture. You forced Hindus and Sikhs to leave Lahore and a major part of the culture was lost.

Lest Pakistanis forget that before partition Lahore was part of India. Pakistani's ancestors were Indian, so stop living in denial.

Their logic is hilarious specially with cultural appropriation. Before 1947, what is now called Pakistan was part of India.

As an Indian Punjabi, I want the say that Lahore was part of India before partition but I also can’t deny the fact that Lahore was the capital of united Punjab where people used to speak in punjabi and following their punjabi culture but In series they haven’t shown punjabi culture at all.

1. Lahore was part of INDIA before partition
2. Pakistan's directors dont have budgets or brains and even enough licenses or screens
3. Kathak is literally considereda thing of shame there ... few great artists do dwell there but how would u bring that much of background dancers trained in Kathak ... I saw few clips of Pakistani kathak . It was hilarious
4. If locals would have commented such things it still would have made sense but the actors and influencial people of Pakistan commenting this is just hilarious....Whole nation needs some good quality education...
5. Even actresses in Pakistan dont dance well leaving few like Mahira Khan and Hania Amir and they face strong criticism plus the costumes would have been lack Lustre...
6. EVERYONE IN PAKISTAN NEEDS TO FOCUS ON HOW TO OVERCOME DEBT AND HOW TO BECOME CREDITABLE NOT ON HOW TO MAKE HEERAMANDI 😂😂😂

Who made Gandhi ? One can make a movie on anything - at the end of the day it’s a movie / a story

Are they forgetting story goes back to the times when Lahore was part of India.

We Indians, not politicians, still call Pakistanis our brothers and sisters. And history cannot be changed, it will always remain in history that we were one. Why the fire lit by the ‘Angrez’ still exists, it’s quite sad.

Colonel Radcliffe who divided INDIA was in two minds about Lahore and Calcutta . At the last minute, Lahore was given to Pakistan and Calcutta remained part of India .
