They should have errata'd it to what the Japanese text was

I played with it, I played against it. It was hell, but I still miss those times (and Igglybuff negating Slowking.)

and still to this day, 20 years later, wizard of the coast is committing "the stupid" to it's cardbase players

This is like removing the 'Once per turn' clause in YuGiOh due to mistranslation

little extra about Ace Spec (1:36) you arent just one per deck on Computer Search but you are also locked out of any other ace spec cards as you can only have any 1 ace spec in total in your deck

I could have sworn Sneasel got banned before Slowking did. I remember Slowking's ban happened only just before the e-Series cards were releasing here.

I played Slowking just to get an achievement with Unowns, on TCG ONE. The thing is though, on TCG ONE, Slowking uses the japanese rules. however luckily for me, not many players knew this when i was matched against them, and would moan that i'm using a banned card, and leave the match. even though the ingame chat log, would clearly state that the Slowking is using the Japanese rules. Neo Genesis Sneasel is still banned in Career formats though, but not banned in unlimited

Crazy to me that a company would do that and not errata the card after coming from a game like Yugioh..lol, I remember a few situations like this and the card always got errata'd. I understand it complicates things, but if you're playing at tournament level it shouldn't be hard to have the "proper" version of the card available for everyone to see.

This was the closest Pokemon got to being yugioh with oppressive game play

I never really got too into the card game. I think the last I played was when the gym leader sets came out. People I knew collected the cards, but nobody I knew actually played the game. Had a few games against some kids in school at recess and lunch. Nobody knew any meta strategies or anything. I always made sure to use trainers for searching and drawing. Lass was always part of a combo I used. The main goal was to get blastoise out. Sometimes, I even used the pokemon breeder card. Play all my draw and search cards (bill, prof oak, computer search, etc.). Hopefully getting 5 water energies on Blastoise and something on the bench as backup by the time my searches and draws ran out. Then, when I finished finding whatever I wanted, I played Lass to get rid of any of my opponent's trainers, so they were less likely to be able to set up or have any counter play on their next turn.

I don’t doubt that slowking was a pest. But it ended up banned. ADP however…made 1 prize decks entirely impossible to play.

Remember in the early 2000s, we'd take our Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh cards to school all the time and use rubber bands or our sisters hairbands to wrap around our decks, or is that just me?

Their first mistake was outsourcing to wotc and giving them free reign. Wotc can't even errata their own products properly also i do have to say that tournaments not making cards function as they are originally printed is stupid.

I loved Base through Fossil, I still consider it the most fun era of the TCG ever. Rocket ruined everything and I never got into the TCG as much after that unfortunately

1:52 - I kinda love how the trio of OP Trainer cards that you keep putting up on-screen just doesn't include Energy Removal, the most absurd card played at the time.

The second biggest mistake was Pokémon EX, but for that one they've been doubling down ever since.

What is it about the Sneasel card that makes it ban-worthy?

peteface

Actually Computer Search got split into ultra balls and arven supporter in this meta

This is why Yu-Gi-Oh has once per turns on everything now

WTF!? WotC saw that the card was ruining the game yet refused to actually ban it. hell, they were probably made aware that the card had ben mistranslated, yet they still refused to errata it
