Tested: STOP Sleeving Pokemon Cards Like This!

I'm scratching my Pokemon cards so you don't have to. We all know the holographic part of a Pokemon card can be pretty sensitive to scratches, but how easy is it really to do some damage? How careful do we actually have to be?

In this "for science" video, I put various theories to the test and we uncover the truth about ways that the holographic part of a card could be scratched. We start with real-life scenarios, and then take things to the extreme, and yes, we also test scratching in a CGC and PSA graded slab, if the slab were to be shaken.

Let's see if you can see what I see. What surprises you most about what we discover? Where do you think we should go from here? Some of the results may be up for discretion and may be debatable, so I'd love to hear your opinion. Let me know in the comments, and hit that LIKE and subscribe for more.

So after watching the video I can honestly say that this did not effect me as much as it would some collectors. Being a TCG player i am used to seeing more played cards than Mint cards. Seeing the degradation in real time was interesting though. All in all what surprised me most was that Froslass was not the victim

I remember getting made fun of for collecting poke cards when I was 19. 8 years later and now everyone is collecting cards. The prices are outrages

I'd personally like to see the same tests done on Japanese cards to see if they're more durable and less prone to scratching of the holofoil as from my personal experience they seem much better quality cards usually! Excellent video as always! :D

I have tested on both Japanese and English Celebration set holo cards, it seems like the Japanese Holos are more scratch resistant than the english one. Only slight pressure on the card will damage the english holo when you put the card in and out of the sleeve.

I'm 2 years late but this is Chansey Abuse

RIP Chansey... one of my favorite Evolutions holos.

This was a good vid, Pat. I think more people need to learn and realize just how sensitive and susceptible cards are to damage. I guarantee years down the road it'll be tough to find really clean Celebrations bulk because of the cards being all holo and people handling them poorly or at least less than ideally because it's "just bulk".

This video has definitely given me so much more paranoia regarding my cards. I have them all sleeved up and in a semi rigid, but i have them all stacked on top of each other so i really hope they aren’t getting damaged like that. Great video pat!

Would really enjoy seeing the steps for cleaning older cards that have been sitting in binders and have developed dust especially on the top of cards. Would love to learn the best / easiest process. Have an old sports collection to clean up

2:17 the holo bleed on this card is very much real, always loved that about Evolutions.

I was always paranoid when I would buy multiple singles and the seller would stuff 3 or 4 into a single penny sleeve. This just justifies my paranoia. Don't be lazy! Use one penny sleeve per card!!!

Crazy how when we were kids, adults would yell at us "don't touch that!" And now we're doing it to ourselves. Don't handle these children toys or actually use them for their intended purpose. Yikes.

I wonder if different holo patterns have different scratchability. The Sword and Shield holo patterns seem to get less scuffed than the more “smooth” holo

Warning: many Chansey’s were sacrificed in the making of this video 😭😂

Great video though Pat, I had no idea even on the sleeves that damage can still be caused!
May have just saved a lot of people’s collections with this video ❤️

I think the scratches you got on the plastic from shaking the cards was from you holding your finger in the exact spot while it was going. To me it’s the only thing that made sense.

Great research all around. One thing I'd like to see tested is the use of "perfect fit" sleeves and if they cause Holo scratches/edge wear. Also, the combination of perfect fit sleeves and one-touch magnetic cases. These are becoming popular with the backlog at grading companies persisting. This way collectors can still get a similar experience of a card in a slab but not wait a year/pay an arm and a leg.

I saw your gifts that you gave to Poke Rev on his channel. That was about a month ago quickly came over to your channel just to check you out and I wasn't impressed but I also didn't give your channel a real chance. Have to admit I subscribed after giving you a chance. I'm a tough sell love your content man. The fact that you come off as super genuine doesn't hurt at all either

Thanks for the formative video, I love collecting the cards because of the artwork and I love that each card has a story to tell. I love the different art styles from many different artists. 😊🥰

I use the perfect fit sleeves and then put them in a ultra pro binder, you know the ones with the black page that opens on the sides, so they don't rattle around as much, but I'm usually very careful and gentle, so this hasn't happened to me, but I'll keep this in mind!

Thank you for doing this! Hopefully everyone watches and pays attention! I cringe constantly as I watch tons people improperly handle cards. People truly dont realize how delicate cards are! Amazing information for all! Thanks again Pat!!!
