As someone that was king of the friend zone, the best thing I can recommend is to leave: focus on yourself, hit the gym, and focus on your goals. It’s going to hurt, it’s going to suck, but if her feelings for you aren’t the same, I can guarantee you there is someone out there that’ll feel the same way for you as you feel for her.

Getting set up with her friend is not necessarily a bad thing. Her friend ended up being more compatible and it actually worked out. Strangely, we both grew apart from her after we became close. I suppose we owe her a thank-you card...

I went through a period in my life where this happened to me more often than I would have liked. I finally figured out what I was doing. Not necessarily doing wrong because growing up in a house with only brothers, maybe I needed to have some female friends.

I am curious about getting out of the friend zone, because in my experience, once you get to that place, you never really get out. This idea of a man and woman who are friends then discover what they were looking for all along was each other only works in the movies. That was my experience anyway.
In my experience, the best way to get out of the friend zone is never to get into the friend zone to begin with. Don't be too pushy or forward, but unless you really just want to be friends, if someone lets you know within a few dates that she just isn't interested, then just move on.

Guys do not stay in the friend zone. Save your self the frustration and move on. If doesn’t see you has a romantic partner she probably never will. Move on and find someone who likes you for you. It might be painful but do not hang out in the same group of friends with her. Save your self the awkwardness and find other things to do. Find a different group of friends if you have to. It will be hard at first but it is for the better.
