Do yourselves a favour and build some simple ladders from leftover battens. They make moving up and down the roof much easier and there's much less risk of cracking tiles. With really fragile roofs I've seen roofers put these ladders on top of an old foam mattress to make 100% sure they didn't crack any tiles (in our case an asbestos shingle roof from the early 70s). I use these ladders twice a year on our shed's roof to drain and refill the solar pool heater and they're amazing.

Great progress! I've been wondering why the old garage belonging to the neighbours is still there ? You went above and beyond clearing access on your side. Why didn't they clear it for their access? OK maybe it's asbestos but you have already paid once before to get rid of their asbestos problem.
