Samyang cuts corners on their build quality. Their mounts are screwed into plastic and break all the time on heavier lenses.

Its cheaper because for one, it's made in Korea instead of Japan. And two, they don't need to make up for a massive R&D budget when they just ride on the backs of Tamron and others

Actually, the major difference is the auto focus, the Tamron version actually catches the auto focus a lot faster.

I bought the Tamron lens last year. Though it is heavy, it is almost always on my camera. Love the detail and colors.

I have the Tamron and it's worth every penny. There are no downsides to the Tamron, certainly worth the $600 more than the Samyang from all the reviews I've watched on the Samyang.

It's amazing but it's unruly. Very, very big. Impressively, on a high resolution sensor it offers approximately 55-225mm focal length in crop mode. For more reach. My issue is in a lens Is it size for the 35-85mm range. Would much rather have a lighter smaller lens those focal legs. And I don't mind swapping glass. This one just isn't for me. But it's really cool.

1 year vs 6 year warranty too but you can buy extended warranties that still don't add up to the cost difference.

I shoot everything at 5.6 or 8.0 anyway, so I would prefer something smaller and lighter with maybe a 4.0 maximum aperture.

I just returned my Samyang. The AF when zoomed is horrible. Loses Focus on subject at 100-150 range.
