C17 Globemaster production has been stopped, IL76 is the only option available for IAF now. India should accept the offer. It will bring infrastructure and skill to India in manufacturing of havey military cargo aircraft.

Good for India, opportunity to creat another Aerospace Goverment of India Gaint like HAL. India can creat eg.Bharath Aeronautical Limited a public sector compitetor to HAL. We can work on multiple project with multiple countries.

Whether India should accept this Russian offer or not depends on many different factors like:

1. How satisfied is IAF with technical, functional & logistic performance of IL-76 upto now.

2. Which, if any, are the alternatives available that can be a better replacement of these old aircraft with lesser maintenance overhead and better serviceability. One good example that comes to my mind is the Brazilian Embraer C-390 Millennium that IAF is considering presently. They are also fully ready to 'Make in India'.

3. If IAF is quite satisfied about the performance of the Old IL-76 aircraft and the spares, repair, maintenance infrastructure created along with the knowhow gathered till now in operating the IL-76 for decades can be applied and used for the new, improved IL-76 then nothing like it. India should go for it

This is a genuine offer. Due to sanctions, it is only options. But we should also get the full tot for the manufacturing as well. This will give us export option also.
