WEEKDAY Function in Excel

The WEEKDAY function in Excel takes a date and returns a number between 1 to 7 representing the day of the Week. By default, WEEKDAY returns 1 for Sunday and 7 for Saturday. The WEEKDAY function can be used inside other formulas to check the day of the Week.

Instead of Index use =text(cell-reference-of-date, "date formate") like =text(D3, "dddd")

The dollar signs on column and row in the formula is very important!!!

You can use the text function with the format

Another simple way is copy that day of the week to week day. On week day colum press cntr & 1 together. In the list click custom. In the tight tab the digit appeared remove & add "ddd" & enter. You will get respectively week day

Could also use a custom number format of Ddd (to return "Sat") or Dddd (to return "Saturday") for the name of day.

Helpful video. But, Excel has been around +/-40years....it's just baffling that this isn't just a menu button.

Instead, we have to go into setting up a series of functions & have to write, or load it anytime we hi just want something as simple as day of the week.
