Learn how to prevent splitting wood and stripping screw heads. Drilling pilot holes and clearance holes makes it easier to drive wood screws and helps create a strong connection. Use a combination countersink bit to drill both a pilot hole and countersink to recess the head of the screw in the workpiece.

Great video thanks. I'm a newbie, so, lovely to get any info so well explained and illustrated. I'd been on one vid where the demonstrator almost shouted with excitement, waved his arms and hands around whilst trying to demonstrate which screw he was holding. Was also on another video with loud background music. Impossible to concentrate. You did good. Thanks

This video was helpful to prevent repeating previous errors. I added the clearance hole in addition to the pilot hole. I put tape on the drillbit to know the right drill depth. Worked great. Many thanks!
