The tree you get from the nursery will usually produce fruit right away. It's already grown for like 2 years.

My favorite part was when she told us how long it took to grow her lemon tree

I think it also maybe depends on the tree because I have a friend who bought a tree he planted it and he only started to get lemons after 8 years. But I don't know what type if care he was giving it.

Lemon flowers in summer but the fruit takes 9 months to finish.
They are usually ready for use by fathers day...
Lemons stay on the tree over winter and need the cold to properly sour.
We grow them here in Canada on the west coast, we also grow ginseng and olives

I planted some lemon seeds a year ago and I have one decent sized tree (between 2-3 ft tall with three separate limbs) and several tiny saplings (about 6-7 in tall). I'm probably going to rehome the small ones to see if others have better luck with them. The large one has not produced fruit yet (which is expected). I'd give it at least two or three more years before I get anything out of it. It's an indoor tree so I imagine it won't be as productive as it would be outside.

Our lime tree recently gave us at least 25 pounds of limes! We've had the tree for about maybe 5 years now

My citrus trees were planted in the late 60's and are still going strong. A few years to grow and start producing is worth it! Mine still produces so much I have to cull half of the young fruits or it gets weighed down too much.

Yes that’s correct after 2 years i was getting 3 dozen fruits in a container with proper care, watering and feeding. If planted in ground easily hundreds of fruit.

If it was a sappling that grew from a seed then 8 years is the average. If it is a start tvst is clipped from an older tree and planted in soil to grow as an individual tree it may look like a sappling, but it's actually new growth from an old tree that has the potential to produce fruit immediately. Orchards also graft starts to older trees and may reach out to other Orchards for graft diversity to have a better defense against disease spread as well.

I started one from a seed. It's now 3 years old it's healthy.

I'm guessing you didn't grow it from a seed.

Do you use the Back To Eden method in your garden? I saw you spread wood chips around your citrus trees

Tree needs the suckers prined and it needs to be skirted. I would also say thinning out branches would give you a better yield. Also you should pick them a little sooner so they can last longer.

8 years is from a seed, and that just doesn't happen anymore. It's not only going to be a grafted tree, but it will have been at a nursery for a while as well.
