Originally from Wisconsin, we would boil the brats and onions for a spell in beer - they really suck up the flavor that way. Then grill them low and slow. Inglehoffer is my 'go to' mustard as well!

I use a tin, with sauerkraut, two bottles of larger and cook it on the grill with the brats. After an hour, move brats to the grill.

Looks great ! the only thing I do differently is add some butter to the onion beer bath.

Also of German heritage I've been making beer brats for years and was making them today and decided to poke around and look at other approaches. Nice video. I call it a brat hot tub but holding bath works. Saw Ebbyman413 comment and I also put the brats in the hot tub first and then char them up and then back in the hot tub. I also add a couple table spoons of minced garlic to the tub. Like your choice of mustard!

First thank you for the Asian rib recipe, it was exactly what I was looking for. Second Todd did a great job on the brats. Third please put in a drive-thru window, I need four brats to go.

I put my Brats in the Beer Onion bath for a few them directly over the coals .

Why not put the brats in with the onions and let them boil, then char them?

After failing miserably trying to grill brats myself, i tried this recipe and it tastes amazing! My parents never taught me to cook since all of our meals growing up were either takeout or frozen food, but this cooking experience was super encouraging and i’ll be enjoying it for years to come!
