I feel like it isn't discussed enough here exactly how Light feels.

This version of Light isn't nearly as prideful as Kira is. He is smart enough to realize, just as L has, that he actually is most likely to be Kira and not know it. Though, at the same time, he seems fully convinced that he isn't Kira and acts accordingly.

I imagine that Light has an internal conflict. He knows himself well enough to know that if he was Kira, this is the exact siguation he would be placed it. At the same time, without the temptation of the Deathnote, he can't imagine that he would be capable of such cold blooded murder.
