Yikes! Just Clean Your Trumpet Already!

Can you SMELL your music-making? Yeah, you need to give that horn a bath! Here's a super simple, relatively short, and moderately entertaining guide to how I show my horns some love twice a year.

The tub I use is a 10 gallon (40 quart) Rubbermaid "Roughneck" in Awful Avocado Green (well, that's what I would call it). If you want something a little smaller search for a tub in the 20 quart range, but be sure to check the LWH measurements for something in the 8x8x22 or larger neighborhood.

Yamaha has a great cleaning kit that has everything you need. Check the cleaning cloth for your horn's finish (lacquer or silver plate):
