You can buy whatever you want. If you shoot a lot of video I would definitely recommend the Canon. I think the biggest thing to consider is why are you frustrated. Personally, I would get a D7100 over a D5600 this way you can save a bunch of money on D series lenses. Since you seem to want o do all types of photography just remember there is no perfect camera. Wildlife, portraits and video are very different and require different specs; why a D5/1Dx and D850/5DSr exist. Letting us know why you're frustrated and which areas you like most may lead to a much better answer.

Wow thanks for the video !
I went with the canon, I was able to get it £200 cheaper new with kit lens.
The reason I was frustrated was lack of touch screen and articulating screen on the d3400, hence these two were my next options of upgrade.
The difference in image is so small I can't see it personally .
The canon is amazing and so simple to use and I am playing around with videos now which is a bonus .
Traded the Nikon for some extra lenses which has opened up more potential so win win .
The Nikon was a great camera just not for me!
Thanks again for the video 😊

I have a question. I just bought a Nikon D750 about 2 months ago and it's my first dslr. I bought a couple old lenses already but I want to upgrade to one of the "Holy Grail" lens. I just don't know what to buy. I want to take portraits and landscapes.

Which one is better for astrophotography????

For street photography, the smaller the better. Get one of those two options with a GOOD prime, sharp and fast lens, AND a Lumix ZS70 or Nikon A900. With this setup I would cover all my bases.

As a Nikon shooter predominantly I'd still suggest the ergonomics and user interface of Canon DSLR's are the best I've used. For all the apparent failings we see with Canon they really are a joy to use and that might be the one aspect of the D3400 that the viewer finds frustrating. Before jumping ship however do at least try ( maybe rent) a Canon DSLR. If whatever frustrates you about your Nikon is apparent in the Canon also you could be wasting good money with nothing resolved. Maybe it's DSLR's you find are the issue in which case a mirrorless offering might be a better move?

I cant comment on the T7i since I have not used it however with the T6i the Nikons in the same price range always were better for photography

Canon have an overall better autofocusing system with 45point( all cross type) vs 9 cross type. As well as Dual Pixel AF. Matt is right that in real world the image quality hardly separable. And also canon glasses are cheaper than Nikon counterparts, atleast in EFS category. Only the sensor scores doesn't matter, well it's a key component but not everything. I personally uses 800d and think it's better than Nikon in Practical uses.

I own a D3300 and it's one kicka** camera that performs VERY WELL in almost all situations (especially given that it's an entry level dslr), and when it dies on me I will be replacing it with another D3300 regardless of what other cameras I own. So, I would love to know what was this person trying to do with their D3400 that caused them to get "frustrated", because I'm guessing it had more to do with their lack of knowing HOW TO USE THE CAMERA, and not the camera itself being the problem.

Save a little more money and get a D7200

Fully agreed. There is some psychology involved. If he did not like D3400, let him try Canon. Let him rent T7i for a few days and decide which way to go. If he likes T7i, buy it. If he also does not like it, go for the D5600.
