How this accident led Einstein to his Noble Prize

This tiny accidental discovery of photoelectric effect by Heinrich Hertz in 1887 led to Einstein to discover the quantum nature of light. Einstein won the 1921 Nobel Prize for Physics for this discovery.

Everything we knew about physics was wrong before photoelectric effect? Newton's Laws of motion was published in 1687, nearly 200 years before Heinrich's accidental discovery. Was that also wrong?
