Rick Steves' Europe Travel Guide © 2016 | Skyscraper-studded Frankfurt — with so much commerce it’s nicknamed “Bankfurt” — has a delightful-to-explore old center. We'll also visit Nürnberg, a capital for both the First Reich (the Holy Roman Empire) and the Third. From its towering castle and playful fountains to its Nazi Documentation Center and maze of underground bomb shelters, Nürnberg is a fascinating study in contrasts. #ricksteveseurope #frankfurt #nuremberg

The Germans never seize to leave me in awe with their pursuit of engineering and beautiful architecture.

This episode has to be my very favorite. My ancestors left Nuremberg in 1716 and arrived in Virginia 1717. I wish that my paternal grandfather could have seen this.

Nuremberg is the most beautiful city in Germany! Not too large, not too small. And with a lot of Sightseeings and a lot of Nature around.

I would just like to say that while I was working in Saudi Arabia I always watch Rick Steve's Travels after work. It makes you forget you are temporary stock in a barren desert..

What a perceptive, succinct, accurate and profound summary of history and culture! Rick is a great writer and historian, and perhaps humanitarian.

There's even some ancient cave painting, which can be seen at 3:05, if you look close enough. Wonderful!

Born in Munich and raised in Hanau. I worked at 97th in Frankfurt. 72 to 96 were the best years of my life. Spent a lot of time in Frankfurt. Fleamarkets along the river, Sachsenhausen and the Roman fort outside of Frankfurt.

Greetings from Nürnberg...:-) It's truely a beautiful city with lots of history and spots to explore...not to forget about the beer, Brezeln, Sauerkraut and Nürnberger Bratwürste. :-) I hope climatchange will not destroy the beautiful rivers, parks, forests and trees that give not only Nürnberg it's special charme...about the past: I appreciate how it's honestly faced to learn from the mistakes. Very nice report about Frankfurt/Main and Nürnberg. As a German I’m deeply honored by this lovely video! If you will be in Frankfurt in 2021, when - so help us God - the Frankfurt Soccer Stadium (today it’s named Deutsche Bank Park, but it‘s called after it’s real name the Waldstadion) will be reopened, take part in a Bundesliga soccer match of Eintracht Frankfurt! You will be a spectator among 51.000 Frankfurt soccer fans! Phantastic atmosphere and a very big fun!

It's unbelievable that Germany's become the country it's nowadays. It was fully destroyed in the past, but now it looks like one of the most developed places in the world.
