Enterprise Car Rental Scam - Wrongly Accused of Hail Damage

This is a video I took half an hour into a debate with Enterprise in Denver Airport. By this point I'm quite mad as they are insisting on writing an Incident Report, accusing us of returning the car with Severe Hail Damage. They accused us of driving the car through hail. We had clear skies our entire trip except for some rain on our way to the airport. Absolutely no hail while we had the car.

Doing my research now, I've found this to be a widely publicised scam by Enterprise. Watch the attendants have trouble trying to identify exactly where the "damage" is. The male attendant hits his pen on the car several times.

The car is in perfect condition, except for a few splattered bugs! This is unacceptable.

Enterprise does this all the time! I worked there for 3 1/2 years and they always pull this crap. If they missed damage from a previous rental or it came from another branch they try to pin it on another innocent renter who had nothing to do with it. If you do take the insurance you'll actually doing yourself a favor from bs like this and it actually comes out of the branch because they pay for the repairs 😂 Enterprise is the worst and full of shady assholes that's for sure.

I worked for Enterprise. They will rip you off ANY WAY THAT THEY CAN!!!! You should use your phone and video the walk around when you pick up the car as well as when you return it. I saw a customer bring a car in that had damage from the factory. The car manufacturer had cut the molding incorrectly so when the rear door was opened it bent the molding. First off, they blamed the customer. Second, i saw the report from the body shop they sent it to. The damage was on the driver side. The body shop sent a receipt for all the paint and body work they had just done to the passenger side!!!! Enterprise thrives on hiring kids fresh from college. Kids that they can brainwash. I happened to get the job because i had been a salesman for over 30 years. I was a good salesman because i was ALWAYS HONEST!!!! I had regional managers trying to talk me into lying to customers. I refused. I was fired for refusing to lie to a customer. So be it. I would prefer to keep my ethics than work for that joke of a company!!!!

Sadly all of the rental companies do this. It’s why nowadays I don’t even rent a car when I travel unless I’m going to a place inaccessible by Uber, Lyft or public transportation.

Everytime you rent a vehicle no matter what they say always take photos of the vehicle before leaving the lot so you can have proof

So I had the exact same thing happen to me from Enterprise Car Rental. I live in Colorado Springs Colorado which is known to have a lot of hail. On the day I rented my car from Enterprise it had been raining and had hailed 50 miles south of my location 2 hours earlier. Enterprise offers a free delivery to your location as a convenience. I had them meet me at at 5 o’clock at my location which oddly enough was a hail damage repair shop. As I stated it had been hailing 2 hours earlier but was raining when they drop the car off. When the gentleman drop the car off he asked me to look over the car, and said it was a brand new car and there wasn’t any damage. Well as you might expect the car had rain drops / water beads all over the car; when I asked him if he could wipe the car down he explained that he didn’t have a cloth or shammy to wipe off the car, but assured me that the car was brand new and it had no damage. Against my better judgment I calmly thought to myself this is Enterprise, their not going to rip me off! How that would turn into a huge mistake later. My truck was fixed within 48 hours. I was in the process of moving from Colorado to Alaska and so I had the car parked in the garage the entire time other than to drive it from the rental agency to home, which was a total of 20 miles. A few days later I got a call from the body shop informing me my truck was ready. I went down to the car rental agency and return the car, with a full tank of gas and only 40 miles on it from when it had originally been rented to me when he was dropped off. Now mind you, the car sat in a garage the entire time because I was in the process of moving. When I took the rental car back to Enterprise I was greeted by an agent who proceeded to check the car and “magically found 4 to 5 pea sized hail damage. Two on the hood two on the roof and one on the trunk. You can see where this is going. So to say the least when he started pointing out all the hail damage which was a total of five what they called pea size dents, I got extremely upset. Long story short, I fought it through their corporate office, I did my due diligence and looked up a hail report for my area, I was able to look at the size the amount how long it hailed for and at what time it started and when it stopped hailing. Needless to say the store manager was not happy and it kicked me out of his store because I had shown him there was no way this damage was caused by myself. Long story short, you can win the battle but you have to be prepared to do your homework.

It's rife. Enterprise's franchisee in Italy, Locauto, are masters at this extortion. Basically they do what they want and you have no rights and they use intimidating tactics. Their business is making money from exorbitant damage charges that are assessed at multiple times more than the actual damage. They make no money from the actual rental costs, they depend on damage extortion.

As an insurance agent, this is why I always take pictures of the car from every corner then take a picture of the miles/gas. I then take the rental agreement and write ANY little ding scratch anything that they will try to claim later I sign and they sign

With Enterprise it is becoming widely known that getting insurance money out of people is very much a part of their business strategy as they are looking to sell their vehicles once they reach a pre-determined mileage. They make money renting it out, then again making claims against people insurance, and finally when they sell the used vehicle. I think it is fine that they want to make money, but when they hurt their customers badly, it is not.

This is why I take the car right back to where I got it. Because they’re pointing out dents that don’t even exist

I went to enterprise and they tried to tell me that my drivers license is "invalid". After that I went to Avis and they gladly let me rent a car.

I use to work for enterprise. That is technically not considered damage. It’s to small. Also didn’t chip the paint. I washed cars there and if you don’t get the damage waiver they charge you for damage. Saw more cars get charged for the same damage so the manager would get their crappie bonuses.

That lady pointing the “damage” out is doing more actual damage. By letting her metal bracelet drag along the car. Such idiocy, I cannot

This pisses me off. Rental companies routinely let cars go out without checking them. Recently a popular rental company gave me a car with multiple issues. He didn't notate any of it except he confirmed verbally. Always TAKE PICTURES upon picking up your car. Take like 30 pics and 1 long video as well- get the background and time in the video as well. Also, take a picture of the fuel gauge. Mine was only 1/4 full. I checked the oil in the parking lot- he said we would never let it go without oil- I told him...Really? I am not so sure! The car also was not washed. Very annoying. It also was not the car we reserved. Turns out they don't even stock that vehicle- bait and switch. Luckily they had 3 vehicles available that were all more expensive- one was a BMW! Again, this was at one of the big 3 rental companies. Another tip- get an UBER and rent OFF AIRPORT (even 1 mile away) and you will might save several hundreds over a weeks time.
