At 2:30, how would u know not to subtract 4, since it would still keep x by its self?

(2x+30) (2x-10)

2x+30 + 2x-10 = 180

Add both 2x

2x + 2x = 4x

Then subtract 30 -10 which will give u 20

Bring them down

4x+20=180
-20 on both sides
20 -20 cancel out and you’re left with 180 -20 = 160
4x = 160
4x 4x
Divide 160 from 4
X =40

2(40)+30=110
2(40)-10=70
110 + 70 = 180
