Restored Whistle of Titanic Sound & the Olympic Whistle Sound

The Titanic was a British passenger liner that sank in the North Atlantic Ocean on April 15, 1912, after colliding with an iceberg during her maiden voyage from Southampton, England to New Your City. There were 1,514 people that drowned in one of the deadliest peacetime maritime disasters in history. "The Unsinkable Titanic" sunk and today the story lives on in fans of those who love this great ship and it's history.

I have Titanic, Olympic, Queen Mary, Ocean Liner, and other interesting Historical documentaries. It is a passion of mine to share the amazing Titanic story for the generations to come. Thank you watching my films and please Subscribe, Like, and Comment. Blessings, Mark.

those saying they should have used steam forget that the whistles have been in the ocean for decades and thus are not as strong as they used to be. According to videos of restoring the whistles, the structural integrity was too questionable to use steam and instead air was used to still get sound out of them. It's still a chilling sound even if it isn't a true representation of how they were designed to sound, the fact they still make noise at all is astonishing

I would imagine that the original sound of the whistles when sounded with steam would've been a much deeper tone. It's been said that Titanic's whistles could be heard for 10 miles.

It might be of interest to note that Mauretania's whistles were also made by the same company as Titanic's, and are of identical design and dimensions.

There's a clip of them being sounded on steam, as they still exist and are owned by a private collector, so if you want a better represensation of what Titanic's voice sounded like, there it is.

Without the steam you can not hear the real sound of the whistle.

That made me cry. Thinking of all those who were on there and who thought they would have a better life. May they rest in peace. May the LORD JESUS be with them

It would have been also great if David Mearns, who surveyed the wreck of HMS Hood, could have rescued her bell, however, their attempts failed. But perhaps in the future, they might, with more enhanced technology, and equipment.
Take care, and all the best.

This is blown on air which sounds nothing like the real ship's whistle on full steam.

I sounded the foghorn of the Achille Lauro on departing Mauritius. I was standing with the captain, who told me to press a button. Did that thing sound off; echoed all around the harbour. Told me to do it again. He was very easygoing . Passengers could go anywhere, you fall overboard, that's your problem...haha.

A much closer sound to the whistles in life would be the Normadie's whistles, which were recovered in far better condition (obviously) and demonstrated on steam in NYC.

Honestly the whistle without the steam is much better
