How To & How Often To Properly Reheat Food
so hard sometimes to reheat food (especially on the go) when all you have is a microwave and keep it tasty and not dried out. It's NOT as hard or annoying as you may think...
In a microwave
1) keep it covered!!! a wet papertowel works great... as the wet towel warms up it creates steam and traps it inside making moisture keeping the food from drying out
2) put your food in a room temperature bowl or container. Do not heat up food in a cold container directly out of the fridge
3) Seize matters! The bigger the food the longer or harder it is to get hot evenly... cut the food up into smaller pieces... doesn't take as much work to heat and allows even distribution.
When able... heat up food the same way it was cooked...
If cooked on the stove, heat it up on the stove,
If cooked in the oven, use the oven for reheating
If cooked on the grill... reheat the food in the oven. Do NOT attempt to reheat food from the grill on the grill. It will burn, crisp up, and dry out the exterior of the food long before the inside is hot.
*Lastly... how often to reheat food... ONCE. every time to heat something up, cool it down, and then heat it again, texture, taste, consistency, look... all changes, it will not be as good or flavorful. You can always reheat something after its been freshly cooked... I do NOT recommend doing it again after that.
