Excellent Instructional presentation Joe! I'm enjoying being with the Cartel, now I've got to try to find a couple XXL boot trees!

Have you had any problems with the shaft collapsing? Would you store your boots upside down?

I have one problem with all my cowboy boots. It is right at the topside of my Arch, the instep high point on the boots where there is usually some type of reinforcement. There isn't much give in that area. When I point my foot to go into the boot the area of the top of my art to my heel is too wide to go into the boot without a lot of work and force. I have literally taking the skin off the top of my Arch. It is the only area that I need to be stretched because once I have the boot on it fits perfectly. No other places needs stretching. Which boot stretcher do you recommend to utilize for this specific area?

Thank you for this.

I just had an opportunity of acquiring a pair of Lucchese. Ever since the purchase I’ve been learning a lot about boots already ie the importance of a boot jack. However, the tightness in certain points was a slight issue.

It looks like I I’ll be purchasing a boot stretcher, boot tree, and conditioner.

I have a secondary question, is it ideal to purchase a 3/4 heel insole rather than a full length insole, if the full length insole causes the entire boot to be too tight ( this with thin socks on) or could I use a boot stretcher to open up the entire inside of the boot a little more?

For why the brown boot is looser or softer than the black one, well the manufacturer is correct in the dye colors. All colors have different color molecules lighter colors say the brown has more red molecules than the black (which has more blue molecules}, and red molecules are the largest color molecule so the brown boot has less molecules making it softer and the black has more of the blue molecules making them tighter (say for instance a tighter weave in material is stiffer than a loose weave is softer, less stitches) . There is more to color theory but that is generally why the brown is softer to start, lesson coming from an old hairdresser that has to know color theory to color hair properly
