With so much advancement in technology and nanosizing of so many diagnostic devices - I am surprised women are still put through such uncomfortable probing devices - why can’t such devices be smaller and non-invasive

I just love the way they use the word uncomfortable instead of admitting that it will hurt.

I've had this done and I hate how everyone keeps saying it doesn't hurt, it's so misleading and invalidating. For many people it can really hurt because every women has a different body, also everyone will be experiencing different level's of anxiety. When I went it was okay for the first 5 seconds and then I felt intense pressure that was very painful, i started getting anxious and the pain kept getting worse. The best way I can describe it is someone digging their nail into you and slowly they push harder and harder and tell it's super painful, but this is inside you. . My mistake is that I didn't communicate with my doctor and tell it became unbearable and I burst out crying, I was very anxious and unprepared on top of this as I was told I was only going in for an ultrasound on my stomach. My advice is to communicate with your doctor, tell them as soon as you feel any discomfort and take some painkillers or anti anxiety remedies beforehand just in case.

I had this done yesterday and I didn’t feel a thing. I was so worked up as my last smear was painful. So don’t fear it could save your life. Get it done 👍

Just wanted to give my experience here quickly.

The most uncomfortable part by far was having to have a full bladder, but the staff did say I could use the washroom beforehand since I was in obvious discomfort and I felt way better after letting a bit out. The ultrasound felt totally fine and I was very relaxed through it, the staff were friendly and that made the experience way less scary than I thought.

The pelvix exam was a little uncomfortable but it only took a few minutes before it was all over. Getting my covid shots and blood tests were both worse, tbh.

Hopefully this can be a bit reassuring to others who need these tests.

Have to go in the morning. These vids really help to show what to expect. I wondered why the full bladder, now I know. Cts have shown my uterus cavity is enlarged and masses on my kidney and liver. Urologist visit next week. Hope everything comes out ok for all of us here.

Please just straight up tell people it might hurt. Everyone's body is different. My mom told me she didn't feel a thing when she had to have them, but when I went in it felt like I was gonna tear open down there. Spoke to friends and most of them told me that yeah, any kind of pelvic exam hurts to varying degrees.

So yeah. Please just be aware that it more than likely will hurt.

just got mine done yesterday. the procedure was quick and painless, just a slight bit uncomfortable for obvious reasons but other than that, completely pain free.

I’m just going to ask my ultrasound tech to talk me through it. That worked really well when I got my pap done, recently. I think she was newer at it and was having a little trouble so I just told her that if she just keeps on talking to me and telling me what she’s doing as she’s doing it, I’ll stay more relaxed and it’ll be far better for both of us. She was very happy with how it all worked out and so was I. She apologized for it taking a bit longer than usual and I told her that was fine and I’d rather the time needed, be taken.

The one I had done several years before that, was done very quickly and aggressively by a man and he didn’t speak to me at all and I screamed in pain. I had pain down there for a whole week afterward. I will never have a pap done by a man, ever again. Lesson learned.

This was very helpful and relaxing. I need everything explained to me for anxiety, so I greatly appreciate this.

I just went today for my ultrasounds.
Going in, I was nervous.

But the Dr was really good, gentle, and reassuring.
Checking if I was OK during the procedure.

The Abdominal Ultrasound took less time than the Transvaginal one.
About 2 minutes or less, the Transvaginal about 5 minutes or so.

The only thing I felt, was the warmth of the gel she used to rub my abdomen.
And slightly felt the scanning tool she used going into my Vagina, after that, I didn't feel anything.
I felt slightly more during my Pep Smear a few yrs ago, but that wasn't painful either.

It wasn't at all as bad as I thought it would be!
Even having to hold in the 40 Oz of Water wasn't as bad.

I didn't feel any pain at all, during both ultrasounds.

Initially my Dr wanted me to get this procedure done, because of heavy, painful menstrual cycles.
I would much rather have this procedure done, than having my period! Lol.

Hopefully everything comes out good.🤞
I'll find out in 10 days.

I won’t sugar coat it for anyone. It might hurt for you. It’s different for everyone. I’m twenty and just recently had this done. I seen my PCP a few months ago. And never seen an OBGYN before. But I’ve had to have so many tests done. I have pelvic organ prolapse and ovarian cancer recently diagnosed. (I’ve also never been sexually active so that could explain partly why I was in so much pain. But seriously get what you need to get done! It may be saving your life ❤

Queensland, Australia - I had mine two days ago... Was uncomfortable but didn’t hurt. It took a total of 15mins. *You don’t have to fast, but I had to empty my bladder an hour prior and then drink 1L of water and hold. *You can also request another female be present (even if it’s a female doing the procedure). *If you’re a virgin, the form said you have a consultation prior to going into the exam. *I got mine done on a Friday and was told the results would be available Monday lunchtime.

I actually got something done, a lot girls have misleading information going on . The truth if it’s your first time,
Or depending if will hurt, it does hurt if you get it the first time because they are stretching in your skin especially if you are Virgin . It will hurt to if you are getting them done . To survive the pain and what helped me was that I clenched my teeth and my muscles too . Clenching your fist, it helped with pain . It works . Pain is still there . Also, after they remove what they put inside, they it stop hurting it can hurt to if have smaller virginal area .

Everyone body is different I have to get another transvaginal ultrasound tomorrow it wasn’t painful for me. The best advice is to not tense or clench vaginal muscles. Make sure they use enough lubrication and it should slide right in. It was quick too. This is way more comfortable than a Pap smear
