What to expect at your HSG: Tips from a Nurse Practitioner

The hysterosalpingogram (or HSG) is commonly prescribed to women during the infertility work up/diagnostic process. It's a quick outpatient, x-ray procedure that involves a small amount of dye injected into the uterine cavity to show if and where "spills" occur in your Fallopian tubes. It can give you important information about the health of your Fallopian tubes and diagnose blockages, which is critical even if you're pursuing IVF. Please don’t let the comments deceive you. The pain is insane especially if your tubes are blocked. Be prepared. Take painkillers from 2 hrs before the procedure. Brace yourself. Tell yourself that having a baby in your arms is worth any pain

I had my HSG test few days ago ..it was not painful .A little uncomfortable and irritating like Pap smear and covid test..I had spotting and cramps after the test for a day .. thank god my tubes are not blocked.don’t worry guys 🥰 just take a strong painkiller before this test 👍

I had mine done yesterday and it went GREAT!!!! I felt little to no pain and came out with good news it’s not that bad the woman i had was the sweetest lady ever and gentle I hardly felt nothing, it went to quick i was in and out i took a800 ibuprofen but didn’t need it it really didn’t hurt cool process to watch 😊

I had 1 today and it was not bad at all... I have pretty bad cramps monthly anyway so, it just felt like my normal abdominal cycle cramps. Nothing more. I purposely stayed away from the internet and watching videos because I didn't want to get myself all worked up and scared.
