As someone from a bordering, much wealthier town, I know a lot of middle-upper class people who mention Lawrence like its gotham. It really isn't that bad and I ended up liking the city, I feel safe in the city, and i've never experienced any problems even when going to 7/11 there late at night. Lawrence struggles because the area it is in is surrounded by towns with rich white collar workers, and many high paying jobs that many of the Dominican immigrants simply don't have the education for. Theres not enough blue collar work for all of them so it ends up being the poorest city in the state. But just because it is poor it does not make it unsafe. Lawrence will always have a special place in my heart. I will say, the drivers do suck there.

I'm originally from LA lived in Lawrence mass for a few months I love the people out there the Puerto Ricans showed me a lot of love and I'm Mexican as you know everyone knows there are no Chicanos in Lawrence mass but I was well received by the PR's and Dominicans one day I'll get back out there. Thanks for the upload it brought back memories walking down the streets hearing big pun out people's SUV's bumpin all loud 🔥alot of graff kats out there people still love Hip Hop in that city unlike here in Cali people bumpin straight basura.

bro whoever told u that lawrence is the most dangerous city he might be acting like he is from the streets, i been driving almost all over mass i can tell u that lawrence is not near dangerous as: dorchester, worcester, holyoke, brockton and springfield is one of the worst but between springfield and boston i can tell u that boston is more dangerous and it start right on mass ave in front of boston medical center

Lawrence is poor because it was a city built on industrial mills. Those jobs left. I don't know if Lawrence is the worst. It's up there. IMO Springfield is the worst.

My Sicilian grandmother landed in LAWRENCE, MASS @ age 16....My Mother was born & raised there. I know every street you drove down..You we're 10 minutes from the NEW HAMPSHIRE BORDER then you turned around 🤣🤣. (WIKIPEDIA will explain what took place in LAWRENCE in 1993) TODAY IT IS STILL A MILL TOWN HOME OF THE " NEW BALANCE SNEAKER"!!! SALEM NH is a great town filled with original LAWRENCIANS just over the border where all my family & friends moved to be SAFE...THANKS FOR THE RIDE DOWN MEMORY LANE...STAY SAFE!! 💞🙏

The only reason Lawrence has such a bad rap is due to DRUGS and who happens to be the source, usually a Dominican. Not that there bad people, but that's what I truly believe drives the hate.
You actually drove through the heart of the action, which also happens to be lots of good food spots there.

My family left there in the 80s. It was pretty obvious the mills were not gonna return. Sad because four generations of my family live there starting in the 1880s.

Wow..this is where I grew up in the 70s & 80s..you drove up to my apartments around 10:58 on Hampshire..great video..Lawrence hasn't changed much since the 80s.

I was born and raised in Lawrence, was not to bad when I was a child but as I got older it got worse and worse when I was a kid yes there were people who discriminated against the hispanic community and yes of course that was wrong, but did the people learn from this? NO they did not now there is discrimination against the white community which is also wrong. but I guess that is the legacy of the city back in the day when it was a booming mill town each section of the city had its own ethnicity district for example around common st it was the Italian district the french had there own area ect. and so on. I am proud of where I come from but at the same time I am glad I left as it has only gotten worse and to be honest you couldnt pay me enough to move back there. And as far as the driving well thats the way it has always been.
