I enjoy hearing your viewpoints. As a Fuji shooter especially I'd love to hear you talk about the basic strengths and weaknesses of the system, also why the Fuji didn't stay as your main studio camera. Be really interesting to hear.

I’m 76, , , been shooting since I was 10. My last system was the Nikon D3, , , shot for 10 years with it and couldn’t image there could be something better for me, for the way I shoot, , , been shooting with a Canon R5 and the holy trinity of RF glass for the last two years and that feeling is back again but this time stronger, , , I love this thing, it feels right for me and every time I pick it up I want to shoot and shoot and shoot. I love the colour from that sensor and the glass is almost too sharp and distortion free. Sure, time marches on and there are technically more advanced machines out there, but this Canon kit feels just right for the images I love to capture. I’m old now and set in my ways; this Canon system as a tool that allows me to easily capture my vision is photo nirvana, finally. I wish though that this rig was not so heavy and bulky, but I quibble. In my next life there will be a Leica.

Good information and quality, candid, professional advice does not require marketing, endorsement or a sizzling intro segment.

(Been enjoying your channel, obviously. Great stuff.)

Youtube is a brutal place to learn about cameras, everyone loves their system, and as viewers, we can find any opinion that validate our personal ideas rather that getting actual feel for cameras. As a hobbits the toughest part about picking a system was the huge financial commitment and it was likely a once in a lifetime purchase for me. It wasn't until I went to Best Buy and hung out in the camera department for almost a 1/2 day and played with the actual cameras that I was able to gauge what I liked best. If I had based my purchase on the conclusions in my head after watching weeks worth of reviews on Youtube I would have chosen a system that I would be okay with. For me an enjoyable shooting experience is the only return on investment I was looking for, I was so glad I spent the hands on time and I am absolutely loving the choice I made.

As always I appreciate your candor John, keep up the good work.

What I like most about you, John, is that you speak from the experience. There is people who love gadgets, and people who need tools. There is really, really a big difference. When I need to update my tools, I totally share your aproach. My job is advertising, actually car advertising, so I know very well how to create this kind of feeling about the products, how to engage or fall in love with the last car... As you say, this is marketing. At the end of the day, I own a 8 years old citroen, and for me, it's more than enough. Nothing more to add!!

I used to have a Canon 5D III and loved it’s images. Fantastic autofocus and Color rendering. But I sold it 2 years ago and bought a Fuji XT-3 for its portability when traveling and for its analog dial setup that I was accustomed to from my film days with my beloved Nikon Photomic FTn. However, the joy of photography it brought back to me has been dampened by its unreliable, inconsistent autofocus, especially in dim light. People pictures are hit or miss. The hits are astonishing. They make me say, “Holy shit!” when I see them. But they comprise less than 50% of my images. The rest I trash because of fuzzy eyes or general lack of sharpness, even with my new 33/1.4 and the latest firmware. This never happened with the Canon. So as much as I was eyeing the X Pro -3 and dreaming of traveling the world with it and my 33 and 16-80, I’m teetering on returning to Canon with an R6 and the 24-105/f4 RF and 50/1.2. A much bulkier travel kit to be sure, but if I can get more keepers with it, especially in low light, it would be worth it. But damn, I really really wish the Fuji had a better autofocus system so I could have that X Pro-3 over my shoulder instead of a Canon field artillery gun. Maybe I’m doing something wrong with the Fuji that I could fix to get a better hit rate, or maybe the X Pro-3 has a better autofocus system than the XT-3?

I was watching a review on the RF 24-70 f2.8 and the person said it "blows away" the EF version of the 24-70 2.8 II as if it were an entry level kit lens. No sample images or comparison images to show. The sad part is that there are people who actually beleive anything they see in a review without testing for themselves. Sadder that I keep watching 🤷‍♂️but we all enjoy seeing gear. Keep up the good work!
