I spent over 25 years behind the counter at a camera store that sold everything from disposable cameras to Hasselblads. I'd spend the first few minutes with a customer asking them questions to find out where they are now and where they wanted to go with their photography. I'd then show them several cameras explaining the pros and cons as far as their needs went. Sometimes they ended up with a small, easily pocketable camera, sometimes spending thousands on gear for their big vacation. I ended up with a lot of happy customers who came back to shop at our store again and again.
