They should make cars now with oil tanks like 60Liters or something and you dont have to worry about adding oil every 1000km

Thanks for the excellent explanation!
What is your opinion about less resilient piston rings that put too little pressure on the cylinder walls and therefore cause oil consumption, as is the case with most modern engines?

Oil consumption can be due to evaporation if the engin is running hot, using the right vicosity is important, follow the hand book and use the oil vicosity chart as a guide.

Hi . I have Volvo V40 2.0 l gasoline VEA engine (' it's tight fit engine') . I have noticed too much burning oil lately - specially in summer with high speed. I use 0W20 .. Which oil will be the best to my engine ??? . I drive mostly in town, but 2 times a week i drive little faster . I live in Poland, so the weather is 'moderate'. Summet was hot (even over 36 C) . The winter is so weak, but stil even under -20 C. Thank's

I've ordered a 2019 Audi A4 Quattro. Before doing so, I read up on Audi's history of oil consumption problems. I read and was told that after several years of this issue, the Audi engineers redesigned the piston/piston rings out of a different material which solved the problem of oil leaking into the cylinder. Even my Acura service manager said that they had corrected it. I didn't see any more online stories of this beyond the 2012-2013 models. My car has not yet arrived from Germany but in anticipation of its arrival, I stopped at the Audi service dept. The service mgr. told me how much I would love my new A4 premium plus Quattro....and, oh, byt the way, you'll probably have to stop in to the dealer between oil changes to "top it off." My heart sank. I thought I'd checked it out and that Audi had corrected the problem with the pistons, especially after a class action lawsuit. Has the problem persisted with even the new Audis or did they fix it since then. I was under the impression that it had been corrected. I can't find anything definitive online except one article from a couple of years ago from a publication I think was called Atlantic which implied that Audi had made changes in the piston/piston rings to correct it . Does anyone know? I'm afraid I'll kick myself for selling my 2005 Acura TL which was a dream and never used a drop of oil between changes. Somebody tell me if Audi fixed it. Please?

My 2.0 mazda 6 petrol is consuming some oil in a normal driving conditions at around 2500 rpms, it's around 1l per 3000-4000km, but when driving on highway it revs around 3500-4000 due to only 5 speed transmission and then it consumes around 1l per 1000 km. It seems to me to be the big difference, is that normal?

I use Liqui-Moly 5w-40 full synthetic and my 190, 000km Jetta 2.0t burns 1L every 1000km. It's mainly summer/spring driven never winter driven, should I go with thicker oil?
Edit: Or should I stop redlining everytime I pull out of second gear?
